What in your opinion is the best way for an over 50 year old to lose weight? It is MUCH harder than it used to be :(

Exercise is a must, but I'm a big fan of smoothies and juicers. If you can replace 1 meal with a smoothie and another with a juicer and have a sensible dinner, I believe you will be on your way. The Bullet is like $100, but it's worth it over the years. Think of what we pay for fast food restaurants a year. Good luck!

Don't ever put yourself on a diet. You'll regret it because you'll just gain back the weight and more.

Eat sensibly; meaning eat a sensible amount. Stop eating when you're full. Your body will tell you if you don't eat too fast, so don't eat fast! Slow down. Chew your food more. Think about what you're eating.

Drink more water. Lots of water. It takes away some of your feelings of hunger, and keeps your body running more efficiently.

Limit the amount of fast food (McDonald's, etc.), or highly processed foods (packaged dinners, etc.) that you eat.  Or cut them out altogether if you have the will power to do so.

If you snack, try to snack on healthier things like fruits, veggies or nuts.

Unfortunately, you do have to move to get your metabolism going because metabolism is your friend. It'll help melt off the pounds. So keep moving. That's what jump starts your metabolism. Watching television is not movement. Walking is.

Walking is easy and enjoyable, especially with friends. Join an exercise class and take a friend. Start your own exercise class with your friends.  :highfive: They may jump at the chance to join you on your journey.  Join a fitness club and employ one of the fitness gurus there.

Talk to your doctor if you have faith in him to be kind and helpful.

Weigh yourself every day if it motivates you. Don't do it if it demotivates you. Remember how long it takes to get the weight on. It's no faster getting it off. And you will have your off days (eating too much) that you need to forgive yourself for and carry on. You can always get back on the wagon if you fall off.  :angel12:

Alcohol has a lot of calories and so does soda. Plus they don't do anything to make you healthier or improve your complexion. Try to stay away from those things.  :angry7:

Some people swear by Weight Watchers or another weight loss plan. I am not one of those people, but maybe you might be.

Bear in mind that it takes discipline to lose weight because you will at times be discouraged. Just don't give up; not ever!!
