What hotel chains do you like to stay at while traveling? I like to stay at Embassy Suites, Residence Inn, Marriott, Holiday Inn, to name a few,

We haven't been to a hotel in years. Maybe a Holiday Inn.

I just check for the best price with a hotel that is at least rating 3 1/2, do not care much for the name

I like AmericInn. Clean, quite modern, and they have a breakfast bar in the Lobby.

It generally depends on the location.  We stay in a lot of different places when we travel.  My wife usually handles making the choice and the reservations.  Most of the time she does very well, but we have stayed in a couple of really lousy places!

Price is important, but we generally stay away from the basement budget priced places.  They are that low priced for a reason! Bed bugs, dirty rooms, horrible service... We don't stay at the five star hotels, but try to get something above average.

If it is just the wife and I, we tend to look for a nice Bed & Breakfast.

Hyatt Regency is the bomb. Such nice people, wonderful free breakfasts and lovely accommodations.  :star: :star: :star: :star: :star: We stayed at the one in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I also like Holiday Inn Express.    Quality Inn is okay.

We just stayed at a posh resort in Galena, Illinois (highest elevation in Illinois and almost the most northernmost point) that I couldn't afford but used a Groupon. We practically had the place to ourselves. It's just across the border from Dubuque, Iowa which has a wonderful river museum. It's also close to Wisconsin's border so we had lunch there.

It was called Eagle Ridge Resort and it had a jetted tub in the room that was so incredible I never wanted to get out of it.  I'll probably never be able to go there again, but it was nice to try it out.  :)

I think after the court verdict this week, I will stay clear of any of the Marriotts chains.  I was surprised at their lack of security.  Hard to believe any hotel would give out a guests room number.

We don't stay at the high end ones nor do we stay at the low budget ones.  For us is  just a place to  get some sleep.  I have worked at some high end hotels and motels in the dinning  rooms,  found the food was over rated and the prices sky high also the bars.  And some times the people were such snobs.  But the pay was good and I was good at what I did so made  great tips.  But I have also worked in   Med  cost hotels and the people comeing in were really friendly and the pay was a little lower but the tips were just as good. I just prefer a mid.  hotel or motel.

I usually prefer a lower costing place that still has pretty good quality. Lately I have really enjoyed Microtels.... Although the rooms are smaller than others in their price-range, the rooms are still very clean, and they have a continental breakfast which is nice to save even more money. The reason why they are inexpensive is not because of reduced quality, but rather because of the smaller room sizes. But when I'm staying at a hotel, I don't really care about how big the room is; rather I'm more interested in getting out of the hotel and visiting the area where I went to visit. So a tiny room with more money in my wallet to spend outside of the hotel on my trip is always a big bonus.

Since I work at a Quality Inn I always stay in a "Choice" property!  We get great discounts even at the more expensive properties!
