Do you hang out your clothes still?
« on: March 13, 2016, 11:13:22 am »
I have been looking for a clothes pin bag and Bob keeps telling me that the reason why I cant find one is because no one hangs their clothes out anymore...I say they do...DO YOU?

I would if I had a clothesline.  When we moved into our current neighborhood, we were informed that no one hangs out their laundry because a farm borders our back yards and farm odors get in your clothes.  Frankly, I like the smell of a farm, but I don't want to smell like one myself.

Yes at times. I love the breezy smell of clothes hung out to dry.

Of course. You're saving wear and tear on your clothes, they smell better and you're saving energy. How much better of an excuse is there for doing it than that???  :rainbow:

I have a little clothesline that I can put up anytime and put away when I'm done. It's like a Christmas tree that goes round and round when the breeze hits it. I'm not sure what you mean by a clothesline bag, however. Can you clarify? If you search online, you can find most anything, you know.

My mom hangs our clothes out everyday on nice days. A lot of people do where we live.

I just got a clothes pin bag at Walmart, in the laundry section. Just a plain zippered mesh laundry bag. Around 3 bucks

We hang our clothes out as long as weather permits! In fact, with the season change here in Ohio, we are looking forward to saving money and having the wonderful smell of clothesline dried clothes. You can buy clothespins online if you have to, but when I was buying replacements last year - I found them at the Dollar General, Hobby Lobby (any craft store), Big Lots, Walmart and the local grocery store - Acme Fresh Market! Your clothes will smell great, it is good for the environment, it helps pinch pennies by not using the dryer and saving your clothes from the extra wear-and-tear of the drying process. Good luck with your clothespin search.

I live in Florida so it's warm enough to do it most of the year. I'd much rather hang my clothes outside and they all be dry within a hour then having to worry about waiting for one load to finish to reload the dryer.

I do in the summer when the wind is not blowing dust.  Nothing smells better then sheets hung outside. Some things I no longer hang outside as I do not like to iron. But the sheets, underclothes and towels go out in the summer. Clear up till it goes to freezing. It is too cold then for me to hang stuff out. Had to do that as a kid. The clothes froze dry. And oh the ironing then.

I don't hang my clothes outside on a line but I do have an indoor drying rack I use for certain items. It's not as nice as having a great breeze dry your clothes but it does the job and helps save the clothes and an extra run on the dryer.

Wow, this topic brings back memories of when i first rented my first apartment. I had washed my clothes at the laundromat and brought them home and hung them to dry on my clothes line. I lived in the Bronx on the first floor but my clothesline was at the kitchen window which was towards the back of the building. the super lived in the basement apartment so my clothesline seemed like it was located on the second floor. Anyways, i hung up my jeans and shirts one late afternoon, went and hung out with my friends ( i was 20 at the time) came home to change clothes for the saturday night hangout and  to my surprise my clothes were gone.  :-X I cant repeat what i said at that moment but i quickly learned my lesson by drying my clothes at the laundromat. What gets me is that when i went down towards the basement i found 2 broomstick handles ducktaped together and that must be how then knocked my clothes off the line. Of course nobody seen or heard anything. I laugh about it now but i remember walking around my neighborhood scanning people down trying to notice if they were wearing my clothes but to no such luck.
