Anti-Seizure Medication Problems

I have been on Lamictal for eleven (11) years now, and it worked for my seizures for about a decade. I don't understand why it doesn't seem to work anymore. Has this ever happened to you? If so, which medication were you on that stopped working for you, and which medication did you switch to?

if your having trouble with your anti seizure medication stopped working i would tell you to talk about the medication and if there is something else that you can take for seizures

Try getting your doctor to up the dose or try another anti-seizure med. My daughter used Lamcital for years and was taken off of it.

My sister is on one or two anti-seizure meds, but I don't know the names. She's been on them for a few years now and hasn't had problems. Perhaps your body became too accustomed to it? I've heard of that happening with other pills. I would definitely talk to your doctor in depth about it.

Yes, medications can become less effective over time especially as conditions in health/age change over time.

2 easy examples:
blood pressure meds that work and then people have to switch or add an additional med to get BP where it has been.

Pain killers. The dose that used to work stops being effective over time and you have to increase or change to another type of drug.

Maybe your body is rejecting it or you don't need them.
