buying bulk
« on: September 02, 2016, 07:20:07 am »
Costco is popular.
some people do not like to buy bulk because they wouldn't know where to store it all.
They pay a higher price for a smaller amount.
I like to buy bulk to save money.
I have always found some place to store my bulk purchase.
I repeatedly buy bulk.
Because of that, I only need to shop once a year for that certain item.
If I did have a challenge for storage, I would divide the bulk and put some of it here, there or anywhere.

I love buying bulk and have been blessed with enough room to store everything. The big appeal for me is that I save money but knowing that I will not run out gives me peace of mind as well. I also like finding new, and creative, ways to make special dishes with something that has been used repeatedly. Picking up frozen chicken *bleep* and twenty pounds of jasmine rice covers me for at least six weeks for twenty five dollars and allows me to head home after work knowing that I will have something that I can whip together for the family. I really only rely on the local grocery stores for unique produce or a quick fix. The big box stores are not always the end all to saving money, some of their products are more expensive, but smart shopping allows you to avoid these items.

I only buy bulk if I can find a good price for the items. I usually have a very small stockpile of necessities if I can afford it and find the right prices.

we used to use our sam's club membership a good bit...but actually realized for US..not everyone but US, we were coming out cheaper with what we bought just getting what we needed.  we also don't have a lot of spare room so keeping the membership just didn't make much sense

We love to buy in bulk although it is sometimes difficult to store all the stuff we buy. We find we can buy high quality stuff at much lower prices by buying in bulk so that's why we do it.

I mostly buy bulk for the paper/plastic/foil products - toilet tissue, facial tissues, plates, Saran Wrap, Reynolds Wrap, garbage bags.  Other items I buy in bulk are few - Olive Oil, Mayo, Locatelli cheese.  I have a problem with the food products mostly because they'll stick 3 flavors in a bulk product and one of them is usually one I won't use or don't like, so I don't buy it.  I do like to shop Costco for my contact lense products because they and Sam's Club are the only places I can find 2 14-oz. bottles in one package.  Everyone else that sells a double package carries the 10 oz. bottles.  I also love Costco for their Nature Made vitamins/minerals.  I can always pick up a big bottle and have it last 4 months.

I may sometimes buy things like paper towels, bathroom tissue especially when I get  a good deal; but for just my husband and I it is not necessary to buy everything in bulk.

I totally agree. Whilst I don't go to traditional bulk-buy stores, I will buy numerous items if I can get them at a reduced price. For instance, Walmart usually has a shelf at the back of the store where they stock their reduced items, presumably because the products are nearing their best buy dates. I found El Paso taco shells reduced to 25 cents a packet and I know they are usually priced about $2. So I purchased about 8 packets knowing that my sister and her family would be coming to stay for a couple of weeks in the summer. So I got a great price and everybody had plenty to eat.

I like to buy certain things in bulk. candy, waffles, snack cakes. it is reasonable in cost and you get so much more.  :)

I do buy stuff in bulk. Costco is my favorite place to buy things in bulk.
