Every time I tell anyone about peanut butter chicken, they cringe at first. I had the same reaction when my hubby and I were dating and he told me that's what we'd be having at his parents' house one evening. But it's actually very delicious, so I'm curious if any of you have had an odd-sounding dish or food that sounds like it would be gross, but is actually rather tasty.

Also, if anyone wants the peanut butter chicken recipe, I can edit this post to include it.  :)

EDIT:

Peanut Butter Chicken

8-10 skinless chicken breast tenderloins
2 cans cream of chicken soup
5 tbsp. creamy peanut butter
11/2 c. water
1 tsp. chili powder
1 sliced green onion (optional)

Slightly brown chicken tenderloins in a skillet, then remove from skillet.
Mix the rest of the ingredients in the skillet and heat until it begins to bubble.
Return the tenderloins to the mixture, making sure to submerge them in it.
Simmer for 45 minutes. Serve over rice.

Although it doesn't sound disgusting, I've made a black bean dip before that I know people avoid because it looks just like a bowl of poop. I usually have to do more in terms of plating in order to make it look a little more appealing, like sprinkle some Cayenne pepper on top and line the bowl with lime wedges; give it a little more color than just a pasty brown / black.

Pancakes in Gravy instead of biscuits. It's pretty good, you should try it!

went to a natural science museum with my son when he was in 3rd grade...they had chocolate covered ants and grasshoppers.  one of my son's friends got some and bugged me til I tried a choc ant.  while it was hard not to gag at the thought of it, the taste really wasn't too bad!

Yes, I completely agree about cooking with peanuts and peanut butter, but it is delirious. Mine surprisingly delicious is octopus, that dish was flavorful and so tender but, that was at the restaurant. Recently, I discovered recipes for homemade power-protein snacks, the recipe included canned sardines, peanuts, other nuts, and dried fruits, etc., The picture and words were totally eueweee-uknow. So, I pat dry the canned sardines, I went exact with recipe stated, it included roasting. My goodness that recipe is good enough for giving as gifts!!!!

Strangest thing I've ever eaten, at least for me, is Bison and Elk.  They were both surprisingly delicious and tender.  I always bug out when I think of deer or meat like that because I have this thing in my head that it's going to taste "gamey."  I don't even like fish that tastes fishy, so eating Bison and Elk is a pretty far stretch for me.

I had Bear meat once and it was very good.   Tender and flavorful!

That peanut butter chicken sounds unusual but possibly very good...especially since I am a fan of peanut butter.  Why don't you post the recipe?  Once I see it, I might try it.  Always looking for something new, especially if it is relatively simple.

Paw Paw fruit. Never seen it or heard of it, but when I tasted it I couldn't get enough. My husband regularly tries new and exotic things that I say nope to but usually turns out to be good.
