Do you hang out laundry?

I did years ago, but haven't lately.  I do remember the sheets really had a good smell to them.

I still do. It's faster to dry large amounts of items at  once when I've put off laundry for awhile. I'm lucky that it's actually warm enough to do it in Florida the majority of the year.

I would love to be able to hang my newly washed sheets and towels outside to dry in the hot, dry, Idaho air - but I don't have a washing line. I remember when I was a young girl my mom used to hang her washing outside, and it was my job to go check it was dry and then bring it in/fold it when it was totally dry. It smelt beautiful. Really fresh and natural. Of course the best part for me now, is that it is so much cheaper to use a washing line than a drier. I must look into the simplicity of putting up a washing line.

I do whenever I can, since Cali has a nice weather and everything dries pretty fast and saves some electricity.... at the same time though, sometimes the sun makes everything stiff, so you would still need to run certain things for a few minutes in the dryer to fluff them up.

In Europe we have these type of hangers and I brought a couple with me here... I see they became popular in America as well... very nice invention :glasses-nerdy: and very simple.

I do not hang out my laundry.  We always did when I was a kid.  I don't even remember a dryer in the house.  Mom used double tub Dexter washing machines with the wringer to wash and we hung out the laundry, sprinkled it and ironed it.

It probably wouldn't be too difficult to put up one if you really wanted one. You just need posts and the line. Dryers, like most large appliances, can use a lot of electricity.

When I was a kid my mom would hang out the laundry. That cold, winter air would make those clothes smell wonderful.

I used to hang my clothes on the line outside in the summer to save on energy bills, but stopped doing it because for the past couple of years birds would either poop on them or spiders would make nests in them...In the beginning of the summer I hung some underwear on the clothes line and forgot about them for 24 hours. I came out the next day to retrieve them and discovered a spider had made a nasty nest in them. I walked straight to the trash can and threw them away. YUCK!

I would if I was allowed to in this neighborhood! I try to be eco-friendly, so that's a better option than the dryer. I can't tell you how many loads of laundry I average in a week!
