allergies?
« on: September 16, 2016, 12:42:08 pm »
Anyone have allergies? I've never had them but in the last month my nose is stuffed and I sneeze and have watery eyes. The thing that bothers me the most is the stuffed up nose. I'm now hooked on Afrin. I've tried decongestants,Rhinocort a neti pot and what ever else I could think of. Its been better the last few days because I turned the Air off. Read that it could make this worse. Its been cooler also.Hope i'm not allergic to my cat all of a sudden that air cond. blows everything all around. I wouldn't survive without the nasal spray  its very addicting  oh where is that stuff oh I know  in the other room.

My son has been on a prescription for Zyrtec and Singular every year for the last 3 years, initially just throughout the allergy season but this year, they gave him a 12 month supply. You might think that's a little overly-overly but we took him for allergy testing just a few weeks ago and we found out he was allergic to all the grasses and pollens, our cat, our dog, dust mites and soy. He also has a major to peanuts which we already knew and carry an epipen for. So the pollens and grasses are seasonal but the dog, cat and dust mites are not.

Consult your medical provider. Some allergies are caused by weather events. Do not wait until it gets worse.

I never had allergies before in my life until recently...I develop a weird late season allergy. I had no symptoms during the actual season in the spring, but this September my inner ears, tongue, nose and around my mouth started to itch. Same thing happened last year, if I'm not mistaken. My sister who suffers from (spring) allergies advised me to doubled up on my vitamin C. She takes 4000 mg of vitamin C (two 1000 mg pills in the morning and 2 in the evening) for about a week to ease symptoms and then reduces the amount once it subsides. I tried it and it seems to be working.

Yes.  I have seasonal allergies.
I take Claritin-D, Benedryl, and Flonase...  depending on the severity.    I have found that the generic Benedryl from the dollar store works just as well as the actual brand, I also just tried the generic mucus relief from the dollar store, supposed to be similar to mucinex, and that seems to help as well.

I love Flonase, I used to get it as a prescription, and even then it cost $25.    I like it because it just targets the lining in the nose, and I don't have to injest a pill.   Works really well too. :)

Yes, I have seasonal allergies. They have improved to the point where I no longer need shots(yeah!!) but I still take Zyrtec and Flonase.

I don't really have any allergies unless you count the occasional throat pains every once in a while.

I have ALL YEAR round allergies and I can say that each year they seem to get worse.... I wish I could finally find SOMETHING that works every day, ALL the time. Zyrtec does a great job, but some days allergies are just too bad.

I have allergies and take a number of prescription medications to control it.  I'm in agreement with consulting your Doctor.  Allergies can cause all sorts of problems and unless treated properly can become much worse. Hope you feel better soon.   :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose:
