Soups
« on: September 26, 2016, 08:47:08 am »
What kind of soups do you like to eat? Right now, I am
at work on my lunch eating tomato basil soup that I
added rice, broccoli & leftover corn too. With
or without the additions, the soup is great.

I also like chicken & wild rice, beef barley and roast beef
soup.

My favorite soup at a restaurant is Zoup restaurant and the soup is "chicken
Pot pie". They let you sample the soup before buying it. It is really good, but expensive
so I only go once in while.

I just tried their beef barley the other day, it was really good! I'm looking forward to that on a cold winter day. Hard to go wrong with chicken noodle, too.

Wow I like all kinds of soup.  Broccoli Cheese or cream of broccoli.  I absolutely love loaded potato soup.  I don't know if you count chili as soup but i like chili a lot.  In fact we are making chili today.

My go to are the Chunky and Progresso chicken noodle. I also like tomato soup. I've been eating more of it lately since I've been sick.

Printed a recipe for Tomato Basil Soup just the other day.

Had home-made Crock-Pot Cheesy Broccoli soup today that I made the other day. Had just picked a bunch from the garden, and threw it in the pot.

Today it is in the 50's, with a chill wind. The soup was perfect for today.

I love all kinds of soup.  At this time of the year, Trader Joe's has a delicious pumpkin soup that comes in a box.  I'm out right now, and can't wait to get more.  I also love Panera Bread's taco soup, and Progresso's light clam chowder.  I made some cauliflower soup a few days ago, and was surprised at how much I liked it.  My favorite is a homemade concoction that usually has all kinds of veggies and sausage and/or ground bison/turkey.

I make soup quite often and have become quite good at it. I made a tomato soup last week (with tomatoes I grew in my own garden) which turned out so wonderful, I thought I should add my findings here. Usually I start my soupflas with the obligatory carrot, onion and celery as a flavor base but this past week, I started off sauteing just the onions by themselves in half a cup of butter. I let them saute for a good 15 or 20 minutes until they were soft, sweet and transparent. They become quite nutty in flavor and this changed the whole taste of the tomato soup. I then added the carrot and celery and began to add my tomatoes until I had a rich flavorsome soup. It's funny isn't it how you can change the taste of something just by delaying the stage at which you add your ingredients.

Whenever I have a "sad" tummy, Campbell's Chicken Noodle is always my "go to" soup.  I also like tomato soup with goldfish crackers and grilled cheese sandwich!

A soup that I had the other day at work was spinach and chicken. It was really good, but the owner of the shop tried to sell the same batch 3 days in a row, and it wasn't good.
