Wrong number!
« on: October 28, 2016, 07:22:51 am »
I made a call this morning to a number I had for a State Farm claim associate to discuss a subrogation claim. I took the number straight from the associate's letterhead, but the letter is over a year old from September of 2015. I double checked the number twice and called it three times to be sure I wasn't misdialing... Instead of State Farm, I got a sales pitch for
generic *bleep*/Cialis - at a highly discounted price, of course. I'm not in the market, but like a good neighbor, if anyone has a need, message me on Twitter (privately, of course) and I can hook you up with a phone number!  LOL!
 :D :male:

EDIT: I see that the filter bleeps out the "little blue pill", but the other brand name doesn't set it off!

Keep trying or ask your telephone operator for assistance.

There is an insurance company that has our company's toll free number listed on their letterhead (no, we aren't a cialis company) in error.  We get numerous calls around the first of each month from people angry over their medical bills that weren't paid.  It is very annoying.  This has been going on for a couple of years.  We have contacted that company and they still haven't changed their letterhead.
Have a wonderful day!

LOL:)
Numbers get recycled so easily in this country.
I got a cellphone number which I now have since over a year, and I still get calls for medical appointments for a Spanish lady, as well as text messages from other people.... none directed to me, but to previous owners of my number.

When I first got my cell number this happened frequently with an elderly woman trying to contact her son. I had my husband call and explain to her this wasn't her son's number. She asked for the son's number... Also I've gotten statements in and saved them for the number only to call many months later and it was a 888 adult number.

When I first got my landline phone, the person that had it before me never updated their contact info. I never use that phone unless it is for business. I got messages for that person from bill collectors. I just delete them.

Years ago my landline number was one number off the county Health department. We would get 3-5 calls a week from people that miss dialed the number. One day, my husband answered the phone and it was an older lady. He tried to explain we were NOT the health department and she proceeded to argue with him. Finally, out of frustration, he made an appointment for her (phony of course!) and she was pleased and hung up lol

Yes. Our house number is one digit off from the county children's services phone  number and we get a lot of mis-dials for them. We have the generic automated answering machine announcement on our machine.  It doesn't specifically identify us or the number reached in the announcement (so I suppose people might think that they reached the agency).

Over the years, we have had SEVERAL people call and leave their name and social security number. They have all been lucky that we are not identity thieves!

Before I got married, my phone number was one digit off from a doctor's office.  It got to a point where I adjusted my message to tell people the number they dialed and that if they were trying to reach their doctor's office they misdialed and then I kindly provided them with the RIGHT number.  That greatly increased the number of hangup calls I had without leaving any messages.

Not a lot else they can do.  I have a friend that changes his cell phone number as often as some people change their socks.  Or if they get a new cell phone they change their number.  I have always taken my number with me.

That stinks. My daughters phone number was given out only after a few months (like 6)  of the other person not having the phone number. I get calls for him all the time in her phone!
