Home Sweet Home: A Roof over my Head
« on: December 10, 2016, 05:16:16 pm »
The other day I was waiting for the bus with 3 other people.  We began to communicate with each other.  It was cold outside and I mentioned that I will be happy to get home where I can get warm.

One of the guys said he was homeless.  This can be a rough time of year if you don't have a place you can call home.

What is your home like?

I live in a very nice one bedroom apartment in the Housing Authority building in Cedar City, Utah.  My home has new paint and new carpet; as of last January, when I moved in.  It's perfect for myself and my sweet little cat and I'm so very grateful to have the resources I have.

Have a great day!

Congratulations on having a warm place to call home.  I am blessed to have a warm home too.  My heart goes out to that person who is homeless.  I pray, he too, will find a home.

I live in a single family home, rancher style on an end lot.  It's not big but it's fine for two people.  I have a nice yard.  I love where I live.  My neighborhood is quiet.  I'm blessed to have a roof over my head.  I live in the suburbs and don't see any homeless people where I am. I do think sometime when it's cold or snow about people on the street.  I feel bad for them and hope at least they might have a shelter they can go to.

I understand what you are trying to indicate: "It is nice to have a warm place to go to during                   the cold winter months". But for those homeless people who are not so lucky,  there are many                       other ways to stay warm: A large cup of coffee at McDonalds for only $1.00. Have a warm drink                    in a warm place. Visit shopping centers and local Libraries to stay warm. Do not spend the nights
outdoors. Go to the homeless shelters in your area. If your city or town does not offer services for              the homeless, relocate to one that does to survive the winter blues.

Well I live in the house my mother built in the early 80's - it is really a nice house but in dire need of repair which I am unable to afford.  I get down about it sometimes but I try to tell God how much I appreciate that I have a house to live in that doesn't require me to struggle to pay rent or mortgage payments and hope that he will either give me a nicer home or the money to restore this one.  I know there are people out there with worse or nothing at all to live in.

My home might not be the nicest, but it is home and it is warm and inviting.  I feel so bad for the homeless people out there and am very grateful for what I have.  Hoping that times will change for homeless people because some are very educated and lost their job and everything they had.

Even though my house is small and a bit old (needs repairs) I am grateful to have a home that we OWN. It's snowing outside as I'm typing this. I can't imagine not having a home especially during the cold seasons. I pray for the less fortunate.

We live in a mobile home community. Moved here in February after we had to move out because of family members (long story). Until that happened it was nice to live in something that was actually a house and that we owned. But this is a nice mobile home we're in now.

I have a nice ranch house we newly built five years ago. The construction in the development finished this year. Every thing on one floor including laundry makes it nice for this over sixty couple. We do also have a full basement, not finished but still usable.

My heart breaks for those who don't have a place to call "home".  If I could I would invite them all in!!!
