Help! i think someone's trying to scam me!!!!!!!!!

The voicemail states that a lawsuit was been taken out on me due to problems found in my income tax!. The caller sounded like she's from India & the call's from Miami, FL. I've also received a month ago, a call with the same number from the Miami FL. area,no message just breathing sounds! So, today, the same India voice's telling me a lawsuit has been taken out on me but this time the call's coming from Babylon, NY! I don't understand why they'd bother with me, my income is soooooo tiny profiting of me is basically laughable! For the last 8yrs my big sis has been doing my taxes with no problems! I don't know what to do. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before! I don't even know who to contact about this issue here in my state of Tallahassee, FLA.! Any help from FC Staff/Members would be greatly appreciated!

You would never get a phone call over your taxes, you would get a written notice from The IRS and or the Department of Revenue of the state you filed from.  Hang up on them people and block the number.  That's for sure a scam job.

IGNORE THEM!  You will get something in the US mail from the IRS if you have any problems with them which you would have by now if you actually did.

This sounds like a scam, I would just ignore it or maybe if you can block the numbers from calling you again. If there are any problems, you would get a letter in the mail.

You are right, it is a scam.  Block the number, you can turn it in to local police and phone company.  But I do not know if anything will happen to them since they are usually not even in the country.

I work all in a Financial Investigation Unit analyzing fraudulent activity and it does sound like you are being scammed for all of the reasons that the others have mentioned. To set your mind at ease, run a google search on the phone number, spaced correctly, in quotation marks, ie "xxx-xxx-xxxx". if that does not come up with any thing try the same search with a comma and the word scam after. This will usually pull up several sites that cater to fraudulent requests made via phone. You will see others who, were not as bright as you, lost money to these swindlers. You will also be able to add your post to help save others from the same perils. The sites sometimes tell you how to file reports with the proper authorities. Other's offer rewards for information that leads to a scammer getting arrested.

An IRS scammer tried to hustle my brother, telling him that they were sending law enforcement to arrest him if he didn't pay them back taxes. Fortunately, he didn't fall for it, but it scared him to death.

The IRS has an email address where scams like this can be reported.Go to phishing@irs.gov (subject line:IRS Phone Scam) and give them the information about the call,such as the phone number,where the call came from,what the scammer said,etc.
