Landline phones are so dead. I don't understand why we still have one at home, but I'll ditch it in a heartbeat if it was up to me.

Yes I remember even funnier was that my Grandma had a "party" line on her landline so sometimes you would pick up the phone to make a call and the other party would already be on there talking.  Totally weird.  I would actually like to have a landline in addition to my cell but I don't want the extra bill.

The simple reason I still have one, is because it's almost always in the same place and charged up when I need it. That is worth 25 cents a month to me and that is all I pay.

I was telling my niece the other day about how phones used to be.  She found one of my old joke books called "101 Telephone Jokes" (or something like that).  I explained to her how we used to have to be tied to the wall when talking on the phone.  Then I showed her pictures on today's new fangled smartphone of old phones--rotary ones to be exact.  I was born after rotary phones but my grandma had one.  Think about how phones have changed.  When I was a kid I thought it was super cool neato to have a cordless phone.  Now, if you have a landline it's all they have available.  A cell phone would've blown my mind as a kid.

We no longer have a landline.  My brother's family used to have one because they had crappy cell service.  Some people still need landlines when they live in the boonies or whatnot.  Cell service is getting better but not every single speck of America (or the world) is covered.

Phone booths... that was nice... we had a lot of them... and then they slowly took them down. Good old times when you did not have to carry all these devices with you... BUT, nowadays I would not survive without my cellphone with me :)

And we had a landline at home but it was not working properly plus we were not using it at all.. (meaning waste of money) so now we don't have one anymore and just rely on our cellphones.

I still my landline phone.  I would never get rid of it.  Cells phones fail, Landline phones are dependable.  You don't lose a call because of a dead zone or if a tower is down.

When I was in London last fall, they were SELLING all their old red phone booths.
