Lifeline Assistance Phones
« on: July 02, 2017, 11:30:41 am »
If you're a person who receives government assistance like SSI - You know what it means to experience a limited income.

That's why you might qualify for a Lifeline Assistance cell phone.  Safelink wireless and Qlink are a couple of options for getting a free phone.  The downside is that you have limited minutes and texts unless you spend money to buy more.  Another disadvantage....

you can't use the phone to access the internet because it isn't a smartphone.  That fact recently changed.

NOW....Qlink wireless also offers free data if you want a smartphone.  You have to pay $25 for the device but it might be worth doing if you'd like to access the internet using your phone.

Just a little something I wanted to drop in the suggestion box.

Have a great day!

Is this the same program as the Obama phones?

My father has eye issues & is over 80, & I was wondering if he would qualify for a phone program.
Currently he pays 49 for a landline & rarely uses the phone & a phone with bigger buttons would be ideal.

I've got to check out programs next week for him.... I'll add those to the lists.

Thanks for sharing this information for those who could use it. Many people are on a tight budget. Did you also know you can get discount internet as well? At least in Ohio, if you receive food benefits, you can get AT&T DSL internet for only $10 a month. For more info, Google it.

Here is the thing - if you get something for free you can't complain because you want more.  Most of the people I know who get disability or welfare have iPhones.  I have heard more people complain because the person in front of them has the latest iPhone and then swipe a food stamp card to pay for their $300 plus groceries.  I saw this recently.  Made me so mad I could have screamed.  Then they have a ton of meat, several cases of cokes, chips, and other junk food.  I wish they would change that law.  If you get food stamps they should have to go for healthy food.  NOT 7 cases of Pepsi!  And she was proud of that card.  She flashed it around all over the place so we could all see how she was paying for her stuff.

And what is really irritating, I have already heard people who get food stamps complaining because they are talking about changing the law so you can't buy cokes and junk food.

I also think you should have to go every month and re-qualify.  And you should not only have to pass a drug test but a nicotine test as well.  If you can afford $30 a day for cigarettes then you can afford to buy your own food!

It ain't an "obama" phone.  That is just what some idiot started calling it.  If he has never received government assistance he probably would not qualify.  And if he is old and has worked his whole life he won't qualify.  The only ones who qualify are dead beats who won't work.  And the phones are small with small buttons.  They have phones you can get for your kids that can be added to your account that have like 4 buttons on them.  You program in what the 4 buttons do.  But it would limit who he could call.

Have you ever thought about what is going to happen when the working folks lay down their shovels and say they are not going to work any more.  You can't just keep giving more and more to the ones who won't work.  And expect the ones who do to pay more and more.  It is not fair for someone to refuse to work and then get a ton of free stuff and get other stuff discounted.  If you can't afford something then you don't have it.  I have done without a lot of times in my life because I could not afford to have it or to buy it.  I never expected for someone to just give it to me.

Some words need to be removed, so that a jerk wad leading the conservative party does not try to release those words over and over again.

I don't support discounts on Internet for food stamp recipients. I think you are being spoiled too much and need to prove that you could afford these things without the government subsiding them. Or else, it is a sign that all hell is going to break loose.
