:) Yes, I use a firm grip handshake when I meet someone.

If it is a relative it is usually a big hug.  :)

I'll shake in a business setting when I'm meeting someone for the first time, or sometimes at church they will allow a few minutes for greeting those around you. Not my favorite custom around flu season, lol

WOW! I am surprised that someone has ask this question. I believe that the next generation will never understand the importance and weight that a good handshake carries. When I was growing up my parents would tell me that you can tell a lot about a person by there handshake. They made it a point to tell my older brother and sister and I, that when you shake someones hand it conveys honesty, loyalty, personality, and integrity so many things about a person.  Also long time ago used when two people made a deal or transaction of some sort, people would consider it a binding contract if you will. The handshake would show honor and trust, in some cultures it still means this, I believe. My idea of a good handshake is, that you should look the other person in the eyes then with your Right hand grasp firmly and give two or three shakes and let go, any longer and it feels awkward. I have a very hard time if I meet someone for the first time and they have what i call a sloppy handshake, like if you were grabbing a wet noodle or something. you can also go overboard the other way and grasp to tightly and hold on for to long and make the other person feel uncomfortable.
I just looked up the origin of a handshake, on Ask History, It states that the handshake was for opposing sides or strangers, by extending their empty hands to show they held no weapons in there hands conveying peaceful intentions. The History of the handshake is pretty interesting.

People who give an overpowering handshake are just overcompensating for their weakness

My handshake is appropriate.  Not too tight and not as a limp noodle.  I hate people who knows nothing about shaking hand especially those whose shake is an embarrassment.

I don't have one.  I prefer people to keep their hands to themselves.
