Handicap tags
« on: September 03, 2017, 03:52:06 pm »
If you were borrowing someone's car that has a handicap tag in it, would you park in a handicap spot? I saw this young kid do that today. I was thinking, suppose someone really needed that spot?

Are you sure he didn't need it?  Handicapped tags cover a lot of things beside mobility.  But if he really didn't need it and was using someone's that's wrong, you are taking a spot that someone really needs.

No, because those spots are generally limited and there are people with various types of handicap that need the space, as long a,    I can walk/manage  on my own and not require that kind of assistance; I would leave it for people that really need it.

I would not park in the handicap spot if I borrowed that car. I think the only way you are suppose to park in that spot is if the handicapped person who the tag was issued to is with you.

I never :angry7: park in handicap spaces, not unless if I have a passenger with me who is disabled and has his/her own handicap parking placard. I don’t mind parking farther as I like to walk.

I have a disability.  I need those spots.  When someone parks in them without an honest reason, I don't get  to park in a spot that I actually need.

Food for  thought.

Age doesn't determine disability. There are plenty of people that appear healthy and/or able bodied but can't/shouldn't go longer distances unnecessarily

I would not but there are many times I see someone that looks perfectly healthy but you never know what their medical condition is so I try not to judge.  I am happy that I can walk for a normal parking space and not have a condition that need special treatment

No.  There are people who really need to use it.  I have handicap tags on my vehicles because my husband in disabled but I do not park in the special spots unless he is with me.
Have a wonderful day!

Disabilities comes in many forms.  My mom has one but sometimes I drop her off, park in a non handicapped spot and drive back to pick her up at the door.  It's easier than pushing that wheelchair back and forth.

the thing is some disabilities you cant see...my husbands you can see as it is his walking handicap...mine is invisible as i have menieres disease which is an inner ear thing...i am prone to constant vertigo and falling...but looking at me you cant tell anything..never judge unless you know the truth...and are you sure the handicap tag wasnt his...they do have pictures on them now...and drs cant hand them over for no reason...they have to go through the dmv to be approved with a dr rx

I wouldn't but as many others have said, you can't judge if someone has a disability based on the way they look or their age.
