Horozontal impacted wisdom tooth
« on: March 17, 2018, 10:38:23 am »
Has anyone on here had an impacted wisdom tooth removed? if so how was your experience? I have one impacted tooth and I am scheduled for surgery but I don't know if I can go through with it. There is risk of nerve damage.

Yes I did, thought it would be extremely bad, the operation wasn't bad, but the healing than it was healed.

I only had one wisdom tooth & it was horizontal... It was my first surgery & I had it done at about 20 years of age, it was a smooth procedure.  Minimal pain, no big deal really.   There is always some risk & the doctors should explain to you all the risks, but I think it is such a common procedure that the risk is minimal.

when I was 18 I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed. It only took 20 mins, it wasnt bad at all, the only time I had trouble was when they gave me the tylenol 3 and that made the room spin and I barfed all over.

Im assuming Horizontal impacted wisdom teeth is just as it sounds, the teeth growing sideways? Mine were not horizontal so I would guess there is more to extracting those.

Have you tried getting a second opinion? Is there any risk to NOT getting it removed?

I had all 4 out when I was about 20 and two of them were impacted. I had the luxury of general anesthesia and didn't know a thing about it. I wouldn't say the impacted ones were any worse in healing than the others. Just keep them clean and it's not too bad, I only took tylenol after. The worst part for me wasn't pain, it was the gross taste in my mouth from not being able to brush.

I have had one wisdom tooth out and it was not too bad. I wish you the best of luck with yours. You will feel better once it is out.

I had  all 4 taken out when I was 15 almost 60 years ago, they  did it in the hospital, no pain then but afterwards there was quite a bit. Summer vacation shoot to pieces for awhile. We didn't have all of the pain meds they have now, besides back then they  used either and it made me sick on top every thing else. All four had to come out as I had no room in  my mouth for them.

Wow .. I think that last sentence was definitely not the PG Version.  Are you not the same person that said the pics in the PTC for Babe and Hunk are not PG??
