Is this normal?
« on: September 28, 2009, 07:36:34 am »
Ok so I have 3 children, ages 4, 3, and 2. And I know its normal to lose some head hair sometimes from stress. I'm not losing all of it just some. But i have noticed that my legs hairs and underarm hairs aren't growing. Is that normal. Its been like 2 weeks since I shaved and still nothing. IS that from stress or what?  ??? I don't think its my age because I am only 23. So has anyone had this problem or is it just me? I'd like to hear some of your comments. Thanks

I have never had this issue. You may want to consult you physician to make sure things are alright. It may be as simple as a hormone imbalance, or may be nothing at all. In the meantime, count your lucky stars you don't have to wax or shave....enjoy the break!

Hello, in the fall especially, I tend to find more hair on my brush. I went to the doctor, he couldn't find anything wrong. I've never had the hair on my body stop growing. If you can, I'd see a doctor. Good Luck.

yeah sounds like a hormone problem to me too...or even a thyroid problem. tell your dr, its probably ok though. could even have something to do with your diet? make sure u r taking care of yourself.

Good luck at your appointment! I am sure it is nothing major or you would be having more adverse side affects. I am glad you are seeking medical advice though, that is very smart of you.

I would say it is hormones, but that would usually be the exact opposite. Definitely go to the doctor.

Definately ask a physician, this does not seem like a normal thing and considering your a woman, i wouldnt think not having to shave your legs is a bad thing. Unless there is also hair loss on your head.

I don't know if it is normal or not I have 2 kids 3 years and 25 days I didn't have this issue but sometimes you find something strange because of the hormones change like the skin color during pregnancy. I think you should consult a physician to be in the safe side

Yeah, I agree you need a thyroid test. I was losing hair by the handful for no apparent reason last year, I could see my scalp ( I'm only 32). I didn't notice a change in body hair, maybe it's different for different people. My problem turned out to be a prescription I was taking for Migraines called Topamax. After I switched meds it took about 6 months to return to normal. So if you take any prescribed medicine, that could be it too.
