Apparently my new no soliciting sign isn't doing the job

I live in the country so we don't have any solicitors. Nobody wants to open a gate to get to my house Plus I have big dogs that go in and out as they please. So they can be a little scary. So I'm pretty safe from anyone wanting to sell me anything.

I have a "No Soliciting: This means you" sign right above my doorbell. I recently had a young woman ring the doorbell, I called through the door "Read the sign!" (my usual response), she then said "I'm not soliciting!". I asked what she WAS doing... she said she worked for an auto glass company and was seeing if any vehicles in the neighborhood had windshield damage and if the owners wanted to hire her company to do them. I informed her that was soliciting to which she again said it's not. I then told her to get off my property.

I could hear her grumbling all the way to the street.

We had someone come to our house the other day wanting to see our electric bill so they could give us a lower rate. I think the best thing to do is not answer the door.

Luckily we don't get those, but it was strange when I was little and some random dude would come up to me trying to sell me a new roof to my families house.  It's like, dude, I'm 15, I don't own this house.  If I did I would be amazed with the money I currently get.

We don't have a "No Soliciting" sign, but definitely don't like it when people knock on the door trying to sell something.  I like it even less when people call on the phone.  I try to be nice, but let them know they need to go elsewhere.  I must say that there is one exception I've made. A few years ago, we had a little guy from Jehovah's witnesses start knocking on the door every month when he was about 12 years old.  There were always adults with him, but he would do the talking.  He was so sweet and sincere and not pushy, that I began to look forward to saying "Hi" to him.  He is tall now and in his late teens, and we are on a first name basis.  So I guess some solicitors can turn out to be a positive!

I peek through peep hole and don't answer the door if it is someone I don't know. But where I live doesn't get much solicitation just because of where we are located relatively far away from downtown.

I am guessing that the solicitors are trying to get rid of the papers, so they are getting rid of these papers any way they can.

I live in a Townhome and our community has MULTIPLE signs up and yet, there are real estate brokers, lawn care places, etc and they are always leaving flyers on our door. SO ANNOYING.

I absolutely hate when people come to my door(unless it’s the ups guy) especially now that I have an infant. My dogs just bark and bark and wake her up
