Do you have solar panels on your house? If not, would you like to?

We don't have solar panels. We have had an agent here to discuss them but they had originally told us they would be free, just keep paying the electric bill. When the lady came out she said we would have to keep paying the same amount of our electric bill plus 30%. Just wasn't worth it.

I don't have solar panels but I would love to because anything that uses natural, sustainable energy is much needed and the wave of the future!  Hopefully, 10-20 years from now seeing solar panels on a house or business will not be unusual at all!

I have been watching a lot of videos about them and started doing a little research. I may start out small and set up a system to provide enough power to run my computer as a start.

I would love to have solar panels but we live up a country hollow and don't get a lot of quality sunshine.
Have a wonderful day!

I know that it would probably take more than would be practicable, but I always wondered how many solar power panels it would take to run a Bitcoin mining rig so that the cost of electricity is taken out of the cost equation.  But this is beyond my expertise and abilities, so strictly a "gee, I wonder" question rather than a serious endeavor.

I would love to have solar but we have a lot of trees on our property to cut down on sun/heat in the summer, but in the winter, it's rare to see the sun and the last time I checked, it cost more than the total cost of building our home! So that's out. There are homes around here that have a full roof of solar and I'd love to be nosy and ask if it really saves them money.

I am in the process of getting approved for solar panels for my roof.  My house gets a lot of sunlight all through the day so my home is a good candidate.

It was explained to me that I will be placed on a budget with the solar company and anything that I use over what my panels produce I will still have to buy from my electric company.  The budget that I would be on is below with I normally take out every month on my own budget to compensate for the higher months.

I guess I will have to see wait and see if it turns out to be beneficially to me.

They are still WAY too expensive. :moneymouth:

I'm sure they're a great idea if you can afford it.

I saw a complete system at Harbor Freight with 100 Watts (enough to run my computer) for less than $200.

I would love to add solar panels but will wait until they are less expensive. I feel pretty comfortable in my belief that tax incentives for renewable energy will be offered in 2020. I will have to be replacing my roof soon and have read about tiles that are made out of solar panels. This would be a more aesthetically pleasing setup than the large black boxes and piping that is currently offered. I do like the idea of picking up a few smaller units to run my laptops from. I would also like to look at a few wind powered devices. I minimize non recyclable waste and the use of fossil fuels. I try to ride my bicycle or scooter as often as possible and avoid using the air conditioning unless my dogs are uncomfortable (heavy coats on my Golden Retrievers). I also plan my week out better so as to nix unnecessary trips.

Our old house had them and we loved them! We haven't put them on this house yet.

 :glasses-nerdy: :silly: I don't have solar panels. Seems like the investment just to install them would be as much if not more per year for a long while before noticing an investment. I wouldn't mind having them though!  :glasses-nerdy: :silly:
