This is going to sound silly, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I've found that drinking carbonated beverages on an empty stomach seems to cause anxiety for me. The belching sensation that it often causes makes me feel nauseated, and in turn, causes anxiety. Could this really be the route of my anxiety???!! I'm drinking a non-carbonated lemonade right now and I feel really good. I'm 32 years old. Have I finally found out what triggers my anxiety??

Carbonation does not cause anxiety. But caffeine can.  Belching is not anxiety but carbonation can cause that and does in a lot of people.

Maybe "anxiety" is not the issue.  Caffeine can cause a lot of problems.

Yeah, but the belching causes anxiety in me (I told you .... I'm a special case ... lol). I've thought it over and don't think I drink enough caffeine for it to cause problems for me.

There are people who cannot drink caffeine at all. ANY amount speeds their heart rate up. You should try cutting it out completely. If you do not drink that much then you should not have any withdrawals.

Are you sure it's the carbonation, could it be a caffeine thing? That can make me a tad jumpy and I sometimes misattribute it to feeling ill/anxious.

Possibly. It might also be the deep clutter in anyone’s brain that nobody notices when present (as in referring to presence of the clutter). I had anxiety due to a hard time with enhancing my reasoning. Out of a cerebral fitness membership I have had with HAPPYneuron for a few years now, my brain feels less “stuffy.” Therefore, I can think and remember more clearly than before I ever played those games.

I have never heard of that, but I do know that caffeine is known to cause anxiety and bring on panic attacks.

I myself can attest to that.

I have never noticed this with me.  I drink Dr. Pepper every day and I have not had any problems with anxiety.  I know if I don't drink some every day I get a bad headache.

The caffeine could be causing the anxiety.
Have a wonderful day!

cathy:

It only causes anxiety in those who already have problems with anxiety. Many can drink caffeine without problems.

But too much caffeine, and I get panic attacks, and not any, I sleep all the time.

So, it's a trick to find that middle ground for me where I am normal, well, relatively speaking . . .

I have never had this problem but it's good you trying to find the cause of your anxiety.  Try it on an empty stomach and then the next day try it around the same time on a full stomach and see what happens.  Hope you get to the bottom of your problem.

I think that sounds like a good idea.  I drink pop and never have a problem with it.

Only Ginger ale is the healthy choice, with tonic water a close second...old saying, If it's Brown, turn it down!
