I read a meteorologist (Jessica Starr) for Fox 2 in Detroit has committed suicide.  She was 35 years old.  She had a husband a 2 children.  It makes you wonder what could be so bad that makes a person feel this is the only way out?
RIP Jessica.  :-\

Never heard of her, but you never know what people are going through, whether real or in their mind.  It's sad.

I saw the headlines but didn't read the article.  Headlines referred to some type of health problems.
Have a wonderful day!

You do not know what is going on in people's lives. You have no idea. Even if they seem happy when you see them at work, at church, or where ever. People are quick to look at others and think their life is perfect when they have no clue as to the private hell they are living in.

I agree with you countrygirl.  People usually have no idea what others are going through.

Many people are able to "put on a happy face" and convince those around them that all is well with them, when in truth, they are suffering.  Often we miss the tell tale signs of others who are in crisis.

I lost a brother to suicide.  He assured everyone that he was ok.  He was NOT.  :(

I read about it yesterday. She had undergone eye surgery and her sight was never normal after that. I guess it would have ruined her career as she couldn't see very well. I guess she didn't realize or stop and think of different jobs she could have being legally blind, if that's what it was.

I have known several people who have committed suicide. I don't think any of them the family saw it coming.

Also sometimes people do things you may not understand and it goes back to you have no idea what is really going on in their life.  I am sorry about your brother. Times are hard and everybody has their own h*ll they are going thru. :(

But was she BLIND?  A lot of people have bad eye sight.  My eye doctor or former eye doctor rather kept pushing me to have that lasik surgery. I swear I think he gets a kick back for everyone he can get to have it.  I told him multiple times I don't want to have it.  I know people who had it and still have to wear reading glasses.  So if you still have to have glasses to see why have the surgery.  And a lot of people have problems.  Unless it was a deal where I was almost blind already and this could make it better I would not do it.

You also have a lot of people in the world today who are very vain and would rather not live than to have to live with some imperfection.  But in reality unless she left a note we have no idea what was going on.

Most likely a chemical imbalance, it's not the quality of their life, it's their inability to process it correctly, depression is a serious illness that should be treated by a therapist... unfortunately, some of those drugs they are prescribed lead to increased suicide for some.  Truly a sad situation for her & her family/friends.

How sad, I will pray for her husband and kids. Depression is a horrible disease and so many have it without being treated.

my friend shot him self last 21st of Dec . he made sure i found him, problem is i got scared by something he said, and didn't go earlier, cops think it would have me too, dead.. coz he had only two bullets in the gun,  he been trying to get  me to come to his place to get money from him to pick up doughnuts at the market.  He'd planned every thing even signing titles , it was when i was sad having to move, not knowing i'd find even a bettter place a block away in a month... but when i said i was depressed ,he said he knew a way to fix it... really a scary thought.   Bu he was good looking , well liked and had money,  i rushed down and it was 5 min too late, b ut maybe good i didn't , but i'm haunted buy what i found ,  gun in mouth, and still moving when i got there , i wen t insane and was running and just kept running, worst part was i had to go back to eal with the cops i called ...  really messed up my Christmas last year, and i'm not back to studdering when stressed. As i did when i walked in on a robbery and got tied up and pinched with plyers .thinking i new the safes combo.. stuffered for 5 years , and now its back.   Almost one year,  very very close good friend...  he was sad hims wife took off ,  but who knows.

MOST of those drugs if not ALL have warnings that say increased suicidal thoughts.

Oh wow.  Yes he very likely could have shot you too.  A few years ago a family member's ex husband whom I knew all my life shot himself on Christmas Eve.  Wont go in to a lot of details. But strangers found him (he done in a public place) and called 911 and he didn't die for almost 2 hours after the shot.  It happened close to my house and we heard the gun shot. But didn't think a lot about it at the time.

I could not imagine the images you have in your head.  Or the images police every where have in their head because they see a lot of stuff like this.  I would have ran too esp if he was still moving. He may have had enough left in him to take you out too.  But if he planned to kill you too I wonder why he decided not to wait?

We live in some scary times and you never know what other people are thinking.

Supposedly Detroit meteorologist Jessica Starr had Lasik surgery.  The N. Y. Times reported on cases of painful side effects and vision anomalies resulting from the surgery occasionally.  In some cases there has been chronic pain and blurred vision great enough that some patients have committed suicide. However, Ms. Starr just had her surgery in October and in November reported that she was "struggling a little bit."
Another patient committed suicide more than two years after his Lasik procedure.  He supposedly had extreme light sensitivity, triple vision, visual distortions, and severe dry eye. Starr had a fairly new lasik procedure called Lasik SMILE, approved by the FDA in just 2016.  Supposedly, some people who have had Lasik and developed dry eye have described it as bad enough to feeling like "paper cuts" in the eyes. The sad part is that Jessica had two children!
