Long holiday weekend

 Are you looking forward to a long holiday weekend? Our company is closed Sat, Sun, Mon & Tues. I plan on eating and resting good.

I am off Saturday and Sunday but will be working Monday.  I am taking Tuesday and Wednesday off.

I work at a shelter and we are open 24/7.  I usually have Sunday and Monday off.  So  unless I take Personal or Vacation days I do not have extra days off.  But overnights there are pretty quiet so most of the time I can relax.

I'm working in a grocery store so this is the time that we are so busy. Glad we are close on Christmas Day.

I'm working in a grocery store so this is the time that we are so busy. Glad we are close on Christmas Day.

I am surprised they are closed. Walgreens is open every day. Many other places are open on Christmas day as well.  Places that COULD close. I remember when not even one gas station was open on Christmas day.

I feel bad for people who have to work the holidays. I have never worked Christmas Day but have had to work every other holiday in the past. Most places there is no reason to have people working. Even gas stations can close. We managed just fine when everything was closed on Sunday. People got their stuff the day before.

I have off from my day time job from December fifteenth through January fourth and have been utilizing that time to work harder at my second job. I am aiming for forty regular hours and forty hours of over time this week. Since I was of a proper working age I have always worked two to three jobs. Between the ages of fifteen and thirty I had a restaurant job in the mix and restaurants tend to be open on Holidays and provide a pretty good night to make some extra tips. Unfortunately those fifteen years of working on Holidays have taken some of the magic out of Holidays for me. Guess I am damaged goods. Last year I worked right up until guests were coming over on New Year's Eve and Christmas Eve. I do take joy in watching my family enjoy the Holidays and I volunteer at a shelter a little more around the Holidays which helps.

I am a stay at home mom, so my job never ends, and with out pay ;-) My kids are out of school until January 7th we will enjoy the time off.

I am grateful to be off. This will be more of a vacation and I am so happy.

Well, I work retail so the only day off I have is Christmas day.  On the plus side I'm only working short shifts so I'll be off by 1:00 each day!
