So how are everyone's new year's resolutions going? Are you still keeping them or have you given up/broken them already?

My only resolution, if can even call it that, was to improve my acting skills so I can get cast more frequently in the local community theaters. I can't measure that per say, but I know that I will already have been in two different shows (paid shows, too) by mid-February of this year.

I didn't make any firm resolutions other than to keep doing what I was already doing with daily walking goals (and to try to extend those when possible).  Last summer/fall I posted in here about meeting walking goals to achieve cash deposit rewards from my health insurance ((Thread Linked Here)), and have hit my goals every day since the end of July - so that really isn't a "New Year" resolution, but just a 'continuation'.  The $ incentive is stronger than the resolution incentive!

But I have tried to increase my daily steps to a mark well beyond the minimum requirement of the cash program - not really as a resolution, but it just sort of fall that way on the calendar.  I did the daily minimum on January 1st, but have exceeded it by 50-100% every day since January 2. (Need to walk 10,000 steps daily at a minimum along with a few other goals and my new self imposed minimum is 15,000 steps.  Yesterday I hit 20,000!)

To me a New Year's Resolution is more like a Wish.. You can make it.. But odds are it will not come true..Year's and Years of people making a resolution to do something.. but the truth is.. If we were going to change.. And i mean really change.. We would have done it already... There are people who actually do make a resolution and keep it... Those people have motivation.. and will power.. and determination.. and are hungry enough to make the change.. In my mind..If we lack any of those traits.. Your resolution is nothing more than a wish..

I use to make one but I don't anymore. I do not seem to stick to it so what is the sense of making one.

I quit making New Year Resolutions because I always break them.  I start out pretty good but will sooner or later let them go by the wayside.

I am behind on my health resolution mainly due to being sick for a week. I am a little behind on my financial goals but catching up quickly. These get exceeded, primarily, based on project availability and this years evening projects have not been as profitable. I have a few goals that cannot start until May but I have been planning their execution on a weekly basis. One of my goals involves helping my son achieve a thousand dollars in banking bonuses but this has had a slow start because of the distance between him (at college) and me at the home front. I would like to set up accounts for him but he does not learn how to do this himself. I hate to give the hungry man a fish instead of teaching him how to catch a fish on his own. The reward is so much sweeter when earned through one's own efforts.

YOU get paid? Or the people pay to get in the shows?  We have something like that locally but the actors pay to be in it and people pay to see it but I do not think they actors get paid.  They might.  I inquired about it once but lost interest when I found out I had to pay to be a part of it.  And it wasn't going to work with my schedule.

Honestly I don't make them - don't see the sense in it to be honest.  The only thing I would make if I made one is to be a better person.

I don't make new year resolutions, but I did have some goals in place. So far things are not going as well as I planned, I hope things will get back on the right track soon.
