question in the middle of a survey
« on: April 27, 2019, 07:32:34 am »
A while ago I was doing a survey.  It was all about cars and car maintenance.  About 3 quarters through the survey they asked  who do you think will win the throne in Game of Thrones?.  They gave a list of characters and I picked one.  Then they went right back to the survey on cars.

I have had multiple surveys to do the same thing.  It is very strange but helps me to regain my thought process.

I've also had that... I have a feeling it might either be to see if you are reading the questions or to break up the survey so you can refocus

I have had odd questions like that too, and I do believe it may be to see if one is paying attention. I am not sure how effective it really is, but I am glad you were able to continue the survey.

I think questions like that are put in to make sure you are paying attention.

I don't mind a random unrelated question, and assume that is to make sure you are paying attention.  What bugs me are the questions that don't give you a "none of the above" (or similar) option.  The only options are ones that do not apply and short of closing the survey, the only option you have is to pick an answer that is not truthful. I usually just close the survey.

A lot of times they are just checking to see if you are paying attention.

I think they do this to see if you're paying attention, but who knows.

That is very strange! I can definitely say it has never happened tome during a survey. But I agree it is probably just a pop a question to see if or make sure that you are paying attention?!!

Maybe they were just seeing if you were paying attention. I am glad I never got that question because I would not know what the answer was since I don't watch the show.

They just want to make sure that you are human and that you are actually reading the questions.  I'd be afraid to answer anything I'm not familiar with.  All I could do is my very best.  Then I'd hope not to be disqualified .
