Two people hit by foul *bleep* in recent MLB games...should there be more net protection for fans?

I've wondered that for years.  Why are there no nets.

For as much money as these sports venues bring in, you would think that they would have it the budget to put up a decent net to protect the fans.

I didn't know that 2 people were hit of late, I only saw the little girl.  That was really scary.

I've read arguments that the distance away from home plate allows enough reaction time to a foul ball.

Fans are of all ages and reaction times and not always are fans paying strict attention to the game, so then their reaction time will be slower or non-existant.

I would think more nets or tempered glass/plexiglass would be a valid protection measure for ball fields.

People complain about the nets obstructing their view is a big reason they haven't been extended.

You have got to be kidding me. lol  How can a child's toy be bleeped out.

You can only do so much to "protect".  I guess people could stay home and watch the game on tv.  If you sit in certain areas it is a chance you take.

You're a guest at these venues, these leagues have so much money it's insane, they should without a doubt do all that is necessary to protect their fans! I'm sure no one here takes the safety and comfort of their friends and loved ones for granted in their house. The MLB, NHL, NBA and those ingrateful socialists in the NFL shouldn't either!

The reason why I stay at home when I watch a game.

some major league ballparks have put up safety netting for the reason a foul ball is hit. A mlb player broke down on the field after the ball he hit foul hit a small child.

I suppose that's the chance that they will have to take.  It may come to a point where spectators will have to sign a waiver stating that they will not sue the MLB if they are injured by a ball.

There was a news report about an older lady who was hit in the head by a foul ball last year.  She suffered  a serious head injury.  It caused a hemorrhage and she died.

With a foul ball coming at over 100 mph, I would personally much rather see the game at home on my TV.  That's my choice.

Well I don't want people to get hurt at my house but I do not have padded walls and soft spots to land on if they happen to fall.  They do a lot to ensure safety.  Sometimes bad things happen.  I just think it is crazy to say oh well they need to do more.

Too bad the sponsors are too cheap to protect their regular fans to put up something to protect them.

It's already printed on the ticket that spectators enter the stadium at their own risk which prevents them from suing.
