Did You Know.
« on: July 05, 2019, 02:08:49 pm »
I don't know. Maybe I did know before I seen it on a game show.  Grape leaves are edible.  So I made a few stuffed grape leaves yesterday.  I didn't give it my all best for the stuffing part because I wasn't sure I would like grape leaves.  Turns out I do.  So grape leaves are now on the menu in this house. :D

I just started eating grape leaves as well.  Some studies show that the leaves might help combat memory loss, inflammation and fluid retention.  I guess only time will tell.  :D

Oh yes, I have known about grape leaves.  My husband loves them and got me started on them too.  It's been a while since we had any so I think it's time to start up a new batch.

We've been using plenty of grapes lately but not grape leaves.  They are really good and as another member said, they have some good health benefits too.

Yes I've had grape leaves stuffed with rice.  My uncle's ex gf was a good cook and she would make grape leaf pickles.

I put grape leaves in my pickles when making fridge pickles. They have Tannin, which keeps the pickles crispier

Yu make the grape leaves sounds really tasty. Do you do anything with them before you stuff them, like marinate them in vinegar and oil, or do you just leave them as is and stuff them? I would like your recipe for that.

I've seen a lot of recipes for grape leaves but I don't know where they are sold so I've never had a chance to try them. Now I don't know if I could use them now since hubby can't have dark green leafy veggies anymore. :(

I had never heard of eating grape leaves.  I wouldn't know where to buy any to even try them.

I had no idea and honestly I have never even considered trying grape leaves before. So what do they taste like? Sweet? Savory? Bitter? Or is it more of a crunch without much of a flavor like lettuce? i have to know how something will likely taste before I try it.
