Can Anyone Help Me With This Problem?
« on: October 22, 2019, 09:14:44 am »
I am getting the following message on an offer on another site

"We are detecting your IP as a proxy or vpn. In order to complete our offer, you must use your normal IP address".

As said, this is not Fusion Cash but I have seen FC members who have posted about getting similar messages.

I have been doing this offer for some time without problem but when Apple was updating their software, I attempted to do offer on my old dinosaur of a MacBook. I was able to complete it with difficulty but got a message that suspicious behavior had been detected and I would not get credit.

Since then, I am unable to do offer on my upgraded desktop.

I use the same IP on both my MacBook and desktop. I have done other offers on my MacBook without having any problem.

Any suggestions?

I got that message a long time ago: I think it was on QuickRewards.  I didn't even know what a VPN or proxy was back then, lol.  I've since gotten a free VPN so I could watch BigBrotherCanada but it turned out I didn't need it.

What is a VPN?

Regarding the time that you got the message, did you ever find what you could do to correct the problem and access the site or offer that sent you the message?

I remembered that some members on FC posted about receiving the message and that is why I turned to FC. Besides, no other site has a forum like FC.

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network.  I downloaded a free one but it is inactive and I never have it on or use it really.  They can help have you want to watch region-restricted content, as I did, (it was a broadcast network show and restricted to Canadians).    I did not have the VPN downloaded at the time I had problems with QR's.   I put in a support ticket to QR's and got it settled.    I suggest you put in a support ticket to this site and explain your situation.

You may want to check in your Network settings, under Advanced, and make sure you don't have any proxies selected. Basically, proxies and VPNs are remote servers that your data passes through before it gets to where it's going. They use a proxy/VPN IP address and hide your actual IP address from the recipient. Your old machine may be using a proxy and you may not even know. I had this problem with YourSurveys. They kept blocking me from taking surveys because I was using a proxy. I sent in a ticket and told them I wasn't using a proxy. At the time I didn't even know what it was. They replied and asked if I was using a Kindle Fire to complete surveys. I was and apparently my Kindle was using a proxy by default.

You do not pick your IP.  The IP on my phone and my laptop and anything else from my home is all different.  I don't go in and tell it what to use for an IP.

My first thought would be in your settings.  When Apple done the ios update to 13 it totally screwed my phone up.  I finally got it back mostly to normal and they had the update to the update to fix bugs and stupid that I am let it install and it is all screwed up again.  It changed all my settings.  Grrr.

I would think maybe you are somehow in ""private browsing" where your IP is masked?

Thanks for the input.

I was able to correct the situation. I went to Chrome settings and found the offer I was trying to access.  I cleared all previous information, did a reset and I allowed everything. And it worked.  I have done it three times already and got credit each time. It is not a lot. I get three cents for every 30 questions but it is fun and three cents adds up.

I wonder if the problem had anything to do with the big Apple software update.

I doubt it.  Google Chrome and Apple are not the same thing.  If you said you had a Mac it may have but you also said it was OLD and usually APPLE does not allow updates on OLD devices.  smh

The update was on my desktop which is just over three years old.  We went from Mojave to Catalina and it took about five hours.

While I was waiting, I used my old MacBook which I got in 2007 but still works, however slowly and not always well.

Oh.  The update screwed a lot of stuff up for a lot of people.  I think Apple does that on purpose lol.  Glad you did get it working again.

I don't know about Apples, but on a PC I can get to a command prompt (cmd) to run a tracert destination.com and it will list every IP address it takes to get from my service provider to the final website.

Every time Apple does a major software update, there seems to be some glitches afterwards. There was a much shorter correction a few days after the update because of some glitches. The correction was not too bad. I have also noticed that since the update, I am having to force quit Safari and Chrome a lot because they stop responding. I have been having to force quit Safari almost daily and sometimes twice in the same day. I might try rebooting my computer if it continues.

I think Apple devotees like the glitches. They like catching Apple problems and trying to figure out how to correct.

I do not have an iPhone but I have been hearing some about all kinds of glitches since Apple did an update.

I am nowhere as tech savvy as you are. You are way ahead of me. Thank you for your input.

The only problem I have with my phone since the update is my battery drains in about 2 hours so I have to recharge the phone about 3 times a day and I am carrying a cord and battery pack with me so I won't get caught out and the phone die.  I think they done that on purpose to try to force people to purchase a new phone.  If I pay almost $1000 for a phone it needs to last more than 2 years.

I was getting that message on Tap surveys for quite awhile on my laptop. After about 3 or 4 months, it's finally no longer there and I'm able to do them again. I have no idea what the heck was going on, but sure glad it got ironed out!
