Does anyone know where the forum avatar size restrictions are posted or what they happen to be? I was trying to change my pic and I keep getting an error message. I think it might be due to the size and I am trying to determine how far down I need to reduce it.

I would think it would say on the page where you upload a pic. And now I must go check into that!! I'll let you know if I find any info!

Nope, doesn't say, but I determined that my avatar is 80X60, so maybe no bigger than that? I don't know, hope this was of some help.  :)

Actually, your current avatar is 80X74, so hmmm, I have no idea lol. But possibly it has to be 80 by something?

Thx for the responses. No I don't have a particular program that I use to resize. It isn't something that I do on any regular basis. In the past I think I've just used a web based utility where I uploaded my image to the site and set the parameters I waned it output.

It should tell you.  Are you using a Mac cause I know they are screwed up and way different.  It could also be the file type.  I think mine is jpeg I do not know if another file is accepted or not.  I have never had to resize anything.  It does it automatically but someone was saying she had to resize her pic of payment proof and she was using Mac.

I just played around with it a bit more and got it to work. Yes, I am using a mac. File type is a .png (which is what my old avatar was). I may need to crop a little bit more of it though...

That is good.  I don't use Mac but know if is a lot different.  Windows is a lot easier.  But at least you got it to work.  I don't even know what all file types they accept.  It has been a while since I changed the avatar.  If one doesn't work because of size I usually just find something else.  I have only had 2 on this site.

That is good.  I don't use Mac but know if is a lot different.  Windows is a lot easier.

I always used to think that... and in reality I still know that it is true. But I have used Macs at work (not by my choice) for over 20 years. Up until recently, I always used a PC at home. Several years ago my wife bought a mac laptop to use for some graphic work she was doing, but she ultimately gravitated back to her PC and the Mac sat unused collecting dust. My PC laptop was running wonky, so I decided to 'take over' the Mac laptop.

So now when I need to use my PC for a few programs that are not Mac compatible, I find myself feeling a bit lost on the finer points of where things are and how do I get to that window or feature??? LOL

I've concluded that ease or difficulty is more about what you are used to than anything else.

I hated Macs for about 15 years (mostly because I was using old and outdated versions of its OS). Now I would say that I have gone past toleration and am enjoying some of the convenience and compatibility of using a Mac in conjunction with my iPhone.

I guess it is what you like.  All I know if people who use Mac seem to have a lot of issues with things people who use Windows don't.  It is kind of like phones people who use iPhone first love them and people who use Android first love that and if they change the hate the new one.  From what I have heard you can do more with Windows than with Mac.

Mac is good for graphic work, or was when I used it at old job, but can't say if it still is as I use and love windows... it is easier and has more options, etc... as far as your question I'm not sure what size you need and couldn't find anything.I'm sure it must say somewhere, but it's not out in the open
