What's Makes Your Town Stand Out from others?
« on: December 02, 2019, 05:05:40 pm »
Usually the church bells just play on special occasions like Christmas time.  Well for the past year, what I had thought was the church bells actually are a bank.  The Bank has been playing music (Bells) everyday for over a year.  This past summer I would sit outside before the town got noisy and just listened to the music.  It is such a lovely touch.  Does your town have anything similar?  What makes it stand out from the ordinary to you?

Re-read your post.  Then tell me how s-ck was not flagged as a bad word (I know that is not what you meant to type) but a round bouncy thing that kids play with gets starred out?  Just sayin.  I have noticed other curse words were not starred out over the past couple days.  Makes me think the site is changing. lol

To answer your question my town doesn't stand out.  Has a bad rep from surrounding towns but we have way less crime and bad stuff happening that places around us.  I do not know of a church close to me that plays bells. I am sure if they did some cry baby would complain.

I live in a small, historic town. It is on a river. All of the brick buildings downtown, plus the parks and historic district make it a really awesome place to live. Plus, it is a very short ride to the beach and also to Boston and Portland.

Stetson University and the fact that it is such an old university connected to John Stetson. DeLand University was renamed John B. Stetson University in 1889, and was the first university in Florida to employ a full-time librarian. It has old classic buildings and the town part looks like what it is actually an old western architecture town. I was born here and I plan to stay here through my life.

I don't know that it makes the town stand out or not, but we do have a carillon in one of our city parks that lets you know the time with lovely chimes and sometimes plays whole songs.

It's a nice sound. Probably the Fast Eddie's bar in town is our biggest attraction, donchano. It's pretty well renowned. We have lots and lots of bars around here. They're springin' up all the time.  :rose:

The town I live in now really doesn't have anything that makes it stand out at all. I mean NOTHING! The town I grew up in, however, is a totally different story. It was one of the first planned towns in the U.S. complete with a library, aqua center, and famous shopping plaza with a huge clock tower. And, yes, we did have a church that played their bells on special occasions. I didn't appreciate it when I was young, but now I look back at it very fondly.  :peace:

Our town has a Historical Society Museum which also houses over 4000 Nutcrackers as well as depictions of life in the county for early settlers and pioneers, a doll collection, and exhibits from local businesses of years ago.

Our town is best known for Fort Hood, Tx, one of America's largest military installations.

I live in a fairly small town in MA and they recently filmed a TV show here......Castle Rock is the name of the show (it's on HULU)  I watched the first season but now I do not get HULU any more for the second season.

I live in a historic area of a larger town. Ben Franklin's house/museum is very close and where Washington crossed the Delaware river is a stones throw away! Philadelphia is about 15minutes south of me.
