Not all agencies are free.  I do think they are worth while though.  It  doesn't mean you can't continue to look yourself as well.

It is actually illegal to charge you to place you on a job.  They find ways around it.  Like the one I mentioned.  They charge I think $50 for a back ground check and $25 for a drug test. I may have those backwards. The drug test is a $2 test they order off line and administer in the office. So basically you pay $75 to be placed on a job. And the thing is you pay this no matter what. So if you work one day and the place you were sent to doesn't like you and says don't send him/her back then you pay your entire day's wage back to the temp agency.  And when you go to another job you pay for a new drug test because most require a new drug test for every new job. And a back ground check at least once a year. smh  It is just a big money racket.
