Shepherd's Pie
« on: June 05, 2020, 02:58:35 pm »
Marie Callender has a really good Shepherd's Pie in their frozen meals.  I tried some other brand I saw at the grocery store. It was also good but did not have as much stuff in it.

Just curious as to if anybody ever made this home made?  I like the ones with mashed potatoes on the top.  I am going to try to find a recipe.  :)

Any suggestions for good recipes? :monkey:

that is  a good meal. I would try all recipes .com for recipes. They have the best videos and  really easy follow along recipes.  I have been using them for years :)

I LOVE shepherd's pie and used to make it when everyone was still at home.  My kids and husband loved it.  Don't cook so much anymore but I did buy the Marie Callendar's last week but haven't made it yet - glad to hear it is good.

I used to absolutely love shepherd's pie, especially with the mound of mashed potatoes on top! We really haven't had it much since I had our youngest child. He hates mashed potatoes. He'll eat potatoes any other way, but he says mashed potatoes are disgusting. Now that you've mentioned shepherd's pie, I'll probably look up a recipe and try to make it for me and my husband when he goes back to college this fall (hopefully).   :peace:

I've never had shepherd's pie but I did a quick search online and found a easy recipe so I plan on making it this weekend. It looks yummy. Can't wait for my first taste!

I love Marie Callendar products.  I made shepherd's pie from scratch once. I loved it, but my husband wasn't a big fan.

Tell your husband to make his own shepherd pie next time!

[Countrygirl12] Don't know any original shepherd's pie recipes but I think Public's has a free recipes rake for the picking. Before the Coronavirus came about they use to have a cooking sample site in the store in which the free recipe sample rake's located. I miss the free sample days.

I usually don't buy frozen food.  Sounds like I should probably buy this one. I like shepperds pie.

You can make it with cornbread on top too.  I have never tried that way. They have both varieties at the grocery store.

lol Until you mentioned it I just noticed the samples at Walmart are no longer there.  The woman who done them was already super sensitive about people touching anything.  She would go physco ape on people and just kept getting worse when somebody finally fired back at her.  It is just like calm the heck down woman.

The Marie Callander is more expensive but worth it.  I have tried 3 brands.  The one at the grocery store was their brand and I don't remember what it was and the one Walmart has I can't remember. But they are def worth $3 - $4.

I had never heard of shepherd's pie before so I had to google it. It sounds absolutely delicious (and also fattening!). I think I will make it in the wintertime.

Nope. Not fattening at all. lol  It is veggies.  Yeah I am lying to myself. I think the MC version is 300 or 350 calories.  SO not too bad.  It is really good.  I don't know that I had ever had it before a year or so ago and I saw it at Walmart.  Too bad they don't make one in a family size.  Better than buying multiple singles. :D
