Right. But some people are refusing to go back. And if their employer does not report them they get to continue to sit on their butt and draw the big check.  So they make less money.  Boo freakin hoo.  What about the people who had to continue to make their part time low salary through all this?  Nobody felt sorry for them.  I know people personally who are riding the freebie train and will not go back to work until they exhaust their benefits. And are so mad they can't stand it because that extra $600 is about to expire and cursing Trump.  Get off your butt and get a job!  Or keep lying and draw the state amount you were suppose to be getting.  And at least in my area the ones drawing unemployment have been on a wild ride vacation. They go every where and do whatever.  They did not stay at home.  That is what makes me wonder about how contagious it really is.  Because if it was that bad the whole county would have it.  Although I did find out this morning a couple of my neighbors are sick with it now.

There is a family run restaurant that always is a full restaurant.   We went (or tried to) last weekend.  As we pulled up the parking lot was empty but the owner was outside.  We stopped and asked why weren't they open.  Can you believe this.....he said with his staff getting unemployment and $600 a week, no one would come back to work until the money was over.  He said he just fired all staff, as most were with him for 8+ years he thought of them as family and they treated him like that    He is trying to hire a full staff, but if he can't he will have to close.  That is so sad as it was a family type restaurant great food, fair prices.

He should not have fired them. Now they can continue to get the big bucks. People need to LISTEN to what they are being told. It was on the news, at least for my state, any employer who was having issues getting the deadbeats to come back to work - just turn in to the state that the employee had been called back to work and they refused to come.  Their benefits would be stopped immediately. THEN when they say oh well I will come back now - you tell them sorry your position was filled by someone else when YOU refused to come back to work.  If he just fired them they can probably continue to draw.  And honestly I am afraid they will either extend the $600 a week or still give a bonus but reduced which is still good money.  These lazy deadbeats can lay around the house for close to a year.  The hilarious thing is gonna be when tax time comes and they find out they have to pay taxes on all that money.  I know people who are not having anything withheld from their money so when they file their taxes they will owe it then.  And even if they are having it withheld if they do not take out enough they will owe at the end of the year.  So then they will all be crying all over the internet about how they got cheated.

Are you serious?  For some reason I thought the $600 was free money.  Sooooo they have to pay taxes on it 😁. I know a girl who hours were cut and she’s getting she is getting the $600 plus partial unemployment.  She has said many times I never had so much money, I’m loving this.  She’s spending money like it was water, I bet she has no idea she will be hit next tax time.

Yes, I am serious. No, it is not free money. I never even thought about the partial unemployment and they get the $600.  That makes me mad. Has she never drawn unemployment? It plainly tells you that it is taxable income and you will be required to claim it on your taxes. And THEY will send you a (I think) 1099g with the amount on it. That is the thing, these people have never had so much money to blow. I would be saving or trying to pay off any debt. I too know people who have lived the high life. Spending money like it grows on trees.  And there are people who never stopped working, and working a part time job, and it is sickening to see how people who refuse to work have so much money and the one working the part time job struggles to have what they need. I hope they cut it out completely.

No she never had unemployment before.  I don’t begrudge anyone spending money if it’s earned.  She goes to the Amish market (lives in Lancaster PA) and buys things like a loaf of bread for $6, apple butter with pecans for $15 a jar, and the list continues.  Amazon is probably at her house every day.  She is loving this and has said I never had so much money before.  Now she’s furious because the $600 is ending!

Well suck it up buttercup!  I wish I could have got $600 a week for the past few months. They are still going to get over $400. It needs to all be cut out.  Live on the state unemployment or get off your butt and get a job.  There are jobs out there and they are not hard to find.  There are signs every where and places are begging people to work.  People don't want to work. And as long as they can get 3 times what they make working to not work WHY would they get a job?

If she has never drawn unemployment she may think that is just free money too.  Please update us when tax time rolls around and she finds out she has to pay taxes on all that money.  What is even MORE hilarious is it may put some in a higher tax bracket so they will owe even MORE taxes. LOLOLOL

The whole $600 a week frustrates me.  That is more than a lot of folks earn working full-time throughout this pandemic.  Essential workers have been working through it all, earning less than those sitting on their behinds.

I am so sick of hearing "essential workers".  It is not just "essential workers".  A lot of people never stopped working but are not considered "essential".  You are right though it is more than the people who were working made.  That is not fair.  And they are still talking give the dead beats more money.  Nothing been said about giving the working people anything.  I hear there is talk about another $1200 stimulus.  IF they do that the people who are drawing unemployment should not get that.  They are already getting enough.  If I had been getting $600 a week I could have either went and bought a new car or just about paid my house off.  And most of these people just blew the money.  Must be nice.  >:(

Don't laugh, but the girl I am talking about did buy a SUV a 2016.  She never had a car that new before.  What I don't understand she is only working at  this job about 5 to 6 months.  She only worked 3 days a week, 7 hours a day. But...those were the hours she was hired for!  She DID NOT have any hours cut but she still receives unemployment and $600 a week.  I can't figure it out

If her hours were not cut then I do not see how she was able to get partial unemployment. Here is another kicker...Stuff can come back months later.  If it ever comes back that she done something shady she will have to pay back ALL of that money.  I try not to think about it.  It is sickening. I have family drawing and getting the $600.  Cried and blamed Trump when it did not come fast enough.  And are blowing money out the butt.  Order from Amazon every day. This money is not free.  Where is it coming from? The country is going in to major debt.  And where ever it came from it will have to be paid back. I am curious as to if the car she got is paid in full?  How is she going to pay for it when this "free money" stops rolling in?

I talked to a woman at the dump one day and she worked on a job for a couple days and got sick and they let her go.  So she files for unemployment and gets it and she was like oh it really helped me cause I get that $600 and says the same thing "I never had this much money".  I am like well it must be nice.  Cause a lot of us did not get anything and are still struggling to make it.

I don’t know if she paid cash for the car but it wouldn’t surprise me.  I can’t figure how she’s getting unemployment either, but it gets me so mad!  I could kill when she flaunts the money.  In her case she never had so much money, and she did say they better not cut the $600, I’m so used to it, I hope it stays until 2021.  All her job is reception at a hotel checkin.

Yeah they are all stomping and spitting and carrying on.  They want that "free money".  They will not go back to work as long as it rolls in.  And even partial unemployment only lasts for so long.  Yeah, it makes me mad too.  I try to not think about it.  I could certainly use $600 a week just added to my paycheck too.  She sounds like somebody I would not get along with too well.

My husband got furlough and was getting this benefits, and it did not cover his full salary but it was helping.  Now that is gone he will be getting what the sate give only, and even though he has been looking for work, it has not help because there is nothing for his background.  They tell him that he is "Overqualified" salary wise it will be 1/2 of what he makes right now.  So yes there are jobs out there but he can't get one, they don't want to hire him.  Those $600 were helping us a lot now we will have to see how we survive with only getting 1/4 of his regular salary until either his job calls him back or someone else decides that he had the Qualifications to work for them.

My daughter works for the After School program at the County, and she has been without work since this all started, She was getting more with Unemployment that her regular salary, but my granddaughter is a High Risk and we cannot risk anything with her.  So when my daughter's job called her back and told her they were opening Summer Camp, she told them she would not go back because of her daughter, she knew that Unemployment would stop and it did, so I don't understand the logic that some think that rather stay on unemployment, if the employer reports that you DON'T want to go back then the benefits Stops.

I don't feel sorry for people who are upset about losing that money. As you said, people were making more money drawing unemployment than working. There are people who never stopped working who were making less than the people who were lucky enough to get unemployment.  Most of the people who were drawing it blew thru the money like it was water. They should have saved it and not just bought everything coming and going. They knew it was temporary. The logic that people have with staying on unemployment is they think they will not lose it.  They think either they won't be reported or it will be several weeks before they are caught.  Most do not understand if you cheat anything you are paid that you did not deserve you will pay back PLUS penalties and interest. Some employers were not reporting it. Not sure why.

There is nothing to fix.  Your unemployment will go down to the state wage and you will no longer get the extra $600.  That should have never happened.  People who say they can't live on unemployment need to get jobs.  There are jobs available.  But the people who have set on their butt for the past 4-6 months do not want to work retail. I do not want to work retail either but if I were in a position where I was fixing to lose my place to live and could not feed my family I would take what was available.  Keep looking for something else.

I agree, give the essential workers more money, they deserve it.  I think $2400 a month plus unemployment is a lot.  Many people are making more money this way then when they worked.  So why go back?  I personally know a few people who have admitted I never made so much money before.

Not just "essential".  I know people who are working and just getting by.  Their job is not "essential" but they are working and just trying to get by.  A little over a month ago I talked to a woman at the dump and she had worked 2 weeks and got fired.  She got on unemployment and that is what she said.  She had all kinds of money.  And she also let me know she was blowing it as fast as she got it.  Even people who are drawing social security, the ones who have worked all their lives, and are drawing just enough to survive on.  They could use that extra $600 a week too.

You are correct!  I wish someone would send me $600 a week.  But by essential I meant, hospital workers, nursing home workers, truck drivers, delivery people, store personal, garage workers, gas attendants, etc.  I know I left lots out.  Like I said before I personally know a girl who works 3 days a week 5 hours a day, gets unemployment AND the $600. She just posted on Facebook a pair of shoes she bought for $150.00!  Nice isn’t it 🤬
