Surveys asking personal info
« on: August 05, 2020, 05:50:00 am »
So many surveys where the first question is your Name, then they want more info.

I never provide personal info so I just close those surveys out and on to the next.

Has anyone actually completed surveys and provided there personal info?

I do, but only if they are going to send me a product to test. Otherwise, nope. They can probably get (or already have) my personal info anyway, but I won't willingly hand it over without a reason.

That's my thought process and how I do it also.  When I start a survey, am going along and I realize that I have qualified for a product test, I'm usually asked if I want to continue.  When I say yes, then I'm ready to give my name and address.

There have been a couple of surveys, usually Tap Research where I'm asked to give my name, address and other PI.  I 'x' out of those ones.  When the Tap screen comes up asking my reason for cancelling out, my answer is - 'I didn't like the questions.'

I would only provide personal info if it is a testing product they will send you to try like you address. But if it asks for more sensitive personal info like your social security, then I would avoid it since real surveys would never ask for this kind of information.

I have attempted surveys where I have to give full name address and email. I do not recall if I ever completed these surveys. It does not bother me to give out some personal information but I would never give out anything like my social, bank account numbers or credit card numbers. If a phone number is required, I give out my home land line but not cell.

I won't.  I have seen many of those surveys lately.

I don't mind  giving my name and (only for FC) email, but when they start asking for phone and address, I close out.  State is ok, but why in the world would they need my street address?

I always provide email address without issues, since the email I use for FC is not my personal one, is specially for surveys and things.  When it comes to name I am sort of OK but NO phone number or if they do I will provide a wrong number, but address NO WAY

I have an AutoHotKey set up to respond to these with  "I don't supply personal details this early in a survey "

So glad to read this because it happens to me also.  Oftentimes I regret giving the information halfway through the survey when I read something that bothers me and I x out of it probably too late.

This sounds like a good reply.  You are a wise man, Old Buddy.

Yeah, some surveys do ask for personal information. I never give them my real name or full address. I don't mind giving an email, but anything more, I exit the survey.

I agree some seem to ask for too much personal information.

Here's a strange survey, since I was directed here from another site (not FusionCash) I think it's okay to share the information:

Important note: Please be sure to call in from a mobile phone in order to receive a text message confirming your response has been received.

When you are ready, call the phone number at the bottom of the page using your mobile phone and follow the instructions to complete the study.

Instructions
This study will first require you to record yourself reading a story (Totally fictional story about the "North Wind" and the "Sun" having an argument) out loud in order to calibrate our audio settings, then proceed to answering four survey questions about the coronavirus (COVID-19). When you call in, you will be prompted to record yourself reading the following story so please be sure to have this screen up on your desktop computer or mobile device in order to complete the first exercise.

This research requires that you share your opinion by leaving a recorded message, so please speak clearly, and try to be thorough and thoughtful – your opinion matters a lot to us. Incomplete, abrupt, or unintelligible responses will not be accepted.

I have never seen one so complicated before unless it's the focus groups where several people are online at the same time.

Has anyone completed this survey?

Never seen this one and it would be a hard pass for me. I don't do any surveys that require me to call or record anything.
