PrivatePhone discontinuing free service.
« on: November 06, 2007, 07:11:46 am »
I just found out that: The PrivatePhone service will be discontinued on December 15, 2007.

If you want to keep your PrivatePhone number, you need to check out their site.  :angry7:

Thats alright....there are many other free phone services out there to switch to. I am in the process of doing it right now. Im going to go with www.laservoicemail.com. Its a free service, just like privatephone was.

Fantastic! I'll do the same right now, I was just going to ask if anyone knew any other sites.

Oh yeah! Gots to stay on top of it!! Hey! Thanks to the above member who shared the news of PrivatePhone going bye-bye! I would have been pissed to have that day come and go and then realize I no longer had the service! Thanks Man! Or Woman!

I hear ya! There are other free phone services available. trinnies_mom mentioned one. ty
I'm sure there are others too. I haven't tried any yet, but I'll get back to you when I do. I believe there's a few threads that cover some other free phone services.

Madd4Money mentioned www.aim.com. I signed up for that and got myself a local area code phone number, so I am good to go now that PrivatePhone is getting discontinued. Its certainly worth a shot for everyone to check it out and see if they can get a local phone number! If you cant, other members have brought up some other alternatives......laserphone, etc....

The AIM service doesn't appear to be free.  :(  I'm going to continue using my PrivatePhone number until it expires.

I signed up for AIM and they didn't charge me, do they charge your AOL account?  Did I miss something?
