Is it safe for beginners to try deep-sea fishing in Seychelles?
« on: September 25, 2025, 02:01:36 pm »
I’ve always loved the idea of going fishing but honestly never got further than a few lazy afternoons by a lake back home. When I started planning my Seychelles trip, a friend told me about deep-sea fishing and how you can actually catch tuna or even marlin there. It sounds amazing, but also a bit intimidating, especially for someone who’s never done anything beyond simple freshwater fishing. Part of me wonders if it’s too much for a total beginner, and whether it’s safe to just jump in and try it out. Anyone with experience who could share how it feels for a first-timer?

I was in the same position when I first tried it. I had zero experience beyond casting lines from shore, but when I joined a charter in Seychelles the crew explained everything and kept it really safe. They handle the gear, show you how to hold the rod, and honestly most of the work is guided. I’d suggest checking out https://charterclick.sc/our-services/fishing-seychelles because they explain what’s included and how a sport fishing trip is set up for different skill levels. My first outing there was unforgettable — didn’t catch the biggest fish but I felt completely safe the whole time, and it actually made me want to try it again.

I’m not into fishing myself, but reading threads like this always makes me curious. I did go to Seychelles a couple of years ago and what struck me most was how calm and clear the ocean looked once you were out of the main beaches. Even if you’re not fishing, just being on the water is an experience on its own. I remember taking a boat ride around the smaller islands and feeling like I was in some kind of nature documentary. Can definitely see why so many people want to try all sorts of water activities there.
