I tried Google and got a bunch of mixed responses. So.....

What is the official Christian answer to the "Can God create a boulder so large and Heavy that Even He cannot lift it himself" question?

God created the laws of physics and therefore He himself as the creator, is not subject to them. He created time as well, and is therefore outside the realm of time....He is timeless, eternal, all powerful.

There is a star about 600 light years away called Betelgeuse and it is twice the size of the earth's orbit around the sun. If earth were the size of a golf ball, and you stacked up enough golf *bleep* one on top of the other to equal the size of Betelgeuse it would be the height of 6 empire state buildings one of top of the other. You can fit 262 trillion earths inside Betelgeuse.....to get an idea of that number, you could fill the superdome with (earth) golf *bleep* 3,000 times. And that's not even the biggest star discovered.  God created that star.

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all their host by the breath of His mouth Psalm 33:6 So God didn't even have to lift a finger to create this massive giant along with the rest of the universe...all He did was speak it into existence.

There is a very good video where I got this information from. It actually has 4 or 5 parts but I posted the first 2. If you are truly interested and not just making a thread to start arguments then I think it is worth your time to check it out.

Your answer? Since you need others to answer for you...Blah

If I knew I wouldn't ask.  Basically I just wanna see the non-sense that will be spewed in this thread. So far it has not disappointed.

I believe if you were a Christian you would already know that answer without asking anyone else.  I can see you just want to stir up the bee's nest.  Have fun.

i am starting to see a trend here. post something controversial and let the dogs loose (figuratively speaking). my only reason for posting is the slim hope that some of these questions or statements are a sincere search for an answer. mostly they aren't but you can't give up hope  :)

:cat:  I agree. Sometimes the "bee stirrers" intent backfires when people can actually disprove and give serious, thought-provoking answers.

Hey cat lady. I'm obviously NOT Christian. I'm actually going to heaven.
I asked for the Christian response.  What kind of stupid logic is your comment?  "If you were Christian you would know" really? No crap.

And I'd LOVE to see one.   ONE. Just ONE. Please. Please. Some God fearing Christian person post ONE thing that isn't the dumbest thing I have ever heard.   ONCE.  Do it ONCE.

Quoting the Bible doesn't count because the book was written by flawed men.  It is NOT the word of God.  And don't any one of you arrogant mother f*&$ers dare tell me "I'll pray for you"  because that is just passive-aggressive BS at it's best.

And to rip off my favorite comic, I am so confident that No God exist... if he DOES, then may he strike... everyone reading this post dead right now.

Good night. Top that Jesus.

Why would you assume he's a Christian?  He makes no hint at that.  Even if he was, why would he automatically know the answer?  Many Christian denominations have very different beliefs about this or that -- perhaps he could be curious about how different sects view God's omnipotence.

He asked a valid question (this time).  One that's really never gotten a decent answer from Christian apologetics.  And this thread didn't help so meh -.-

 Good post liljp. I have NEVER seen this often asked questioned answered either, even when I was a practicing Christian. It even came up a few times during a Bible Study group I was in for years. So....meh

the answers were given but skeptics refuse to perceive God as the all powerful being that he is. when you understand that he didn't have to do PHYSICAL labor to CREATE the boulder all he did was SPEAK it into existence because he is GOD and he can do that.....how could he make something he can't even lift? NOTHING is impossible for God. now if you are waiting for a scientific answer there is none....God is supernatural not natural. He has left evidence to his power and existence in his creation but he will never be completely provable because of his invisible nature. that's why it requires faith to believe in him.

however it requires MORE faith to believe that our entire universe is entirely random and that evolution is responsible for everything. it's completely ridiculous and sig sounds like an angry person who just wants to antagonize people. if you really wanted answers you got them. it's up to you what to do with the information.

is the question legitimate? if you really want an answer. (to me it sounds like a dumb question but maybe it's because the answer is obvious to me) were the answers legitimate? yes

and praying is not passive aggressive. it is the single most powerful thing people can do for each other.
