Dry mac n cheese
« on: November 12, 2010, 10:16:42 am »
I hate how left over macaroni is so dry.  Any tips how to fix this?

What I usually do is add just a little more water before reheating.  Not too much, only enough to lessen the dryness that leftover macaroni tends to have.

i do the same! add a little water and reheat it
on the stove to slowly bring back softness to the
noodles. microwaving leftover mac-n-cheese leaves
it rubber, to me.

also, you can add just a smidge of butter or sour
cream to make the cheese creamier, without messing
with the taste.

If we ever have left over mac and cheese (which isn't often because my hubby loves it) I just add a little milk and reheat on the stove. I think water tends to take away from the taste.

Easy fix.  Add a small amount of milk or water, I like milk better, put siran wrap over the bowl and stick it in the micro wave for about 1 minute or 90 seconds.

Add more milk and extra Velveeta if you feel like it.  The cheesier the better.

Yeah, I agree with the above a little bit of milk and make sure you put a lid on it so it will steam and soften. I also will add a little bit of sprinkled cheese because noodles absorb all the cheese and moisture. The same goes for tomato sauces just add water (sometimes ketchup)

I usually do the same, and may add a little cheese, too.  All of you have now officially made me hungry for mac n cheese!!!!  :)

I also use a little bit of milk. Be sure to reheat on the stove, not the microwave. The microwave really drys it out more.

I add a little milk and a slice of cheese.   My family can live off of this stuff.
