Do you have a cat or a dog? Dander sucks! Dust from cat litter boxes?(it attatches itself to the cat and they carry it with them and can get on anyone who handles them!) Dust mites? Do you smoke? Barbeque alot? Do you dust everyday? Are your ceiling fans clean?(ooohhh, that's a bad one for me!!!) Fire place? Clean out your vents, or filter them??? Dryer vent dirty??? Dust itself can make a child sneeze bunches! He needs to get a full allergy test from his doc to see which allergies are manifesting now and ones that could potentially manifest in the future if he comes in contact with them! Then you will get down to the root of the problem!
Also, if your house is very dry, get a humidifier and place it in the room next to the bed, he might be coughing due to lack of moisture in the air (waking up with a scratchy feeling in his throat) which the humidifier should fix, or fix him a glass of water when he begins to cough. Also look at the plants you have growing around your house. Certain flowers that blossom, Juniper, Cedar, some Oak Trees and Cotton wood also drive me and my daughter Nutz with allergies! Of course, it depends on where you live as far as plant life goes. I live in Austin, Texas, so I got all of that crap! My husband just woke up to go to work this morning and he sneezed all the way from the bedroom.....down the stairs......to the living room....to the kitchen.....ect-Non Stop! Yesterday, not one sneeze from him! Fungi and mold like to grow in dark damp places, so make sure you dont have a leaky pluming situation, as the deadly black mold spores can quickly develop. Dead tree stumps like to grow reishi in my yard (it's a shelf fungus), and those suckers can pore out some spores!!! That will also get ya in the allergy department!!! Iv'e also noticed that if you over-water your yard, mushrooms quickly grow, and they also produce spores that can fly in the air, so don't over-water!!!
It might just also be the heat. Records have been set, and it always seems lately that it is either really humid or extremely dry. Take water with you everywhere and make it availiable to your grandson as much as possible. Being overheated can make you sick, so make sure you keep an optimum temp in the room he's sleeping. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right!(LOL-sorry, couldn't help myself!!). Some kids don't know that they are overheated (like my daughter) and they just keep on going untill they get sick! I would Buy some gatorade for him to replace those electrolytes lost since he throws up. Also, when my daughter coughs really really hard, she will throw up, especially if she is having a temper tantrum, which makes her cough harder. The hard coughing triggers a gag reflex in some children, and if they have recently eaten a big meal or drank lots of liquids, it can make them throw up. Haven't you ever coughed so hard, that you felt like you where going to blow chunks???
LOL!
Hmmmmm, what else?
Oh-if you do smoke cigs, wash your face, hair and hands before coming into contact with your grandkid, possibly even a change of clothes, because smoke lingers-I smoke, and my daughter isn't around it hardly ever, so I do that to prevent allergies for her sake!!!
"Im not a Doctor or a Nurse..
..But I could play a awesome Mom on TV!!!"
I hope your grandson fares better in the future, good luck!!!
