I have always had a hard time remembering names, but as I get older, it does get worse, as someone indicated.  Sometimes I go through the alphabet in my head to try and remember names or other things, and often it works.

I've always had issues remembering names.  I remember faces and events/locations where I met them - but it takes several times before I get their name associated.  I "blame" it on my dyslexia.  If I'm in a conversation with the person for longer than general chit-chat, I just outright tell them I remember their face, but can't recall their name (I also qualify that they may need to tell me several more times in the future before it'll sink in  :D ).

Most times their reaction is "No problem, I can't remember names either!"   ;D
