The Chronicles of Narnia has been a favorite of mine since I was little, best to read them in order though.

What's your favorite, Snake?  I'd have to go with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader- lots of interesting adventures.

I'd have to stick with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, just because it's a classic, but I'm really a big fan of most of C.S. Lewis' work.  :)

i honestly think twilight tops harry potter for me. which is pretty hard to do ;p tolkien's stuff is alright.. not quite MY style though. i love anything and everything by dean koontz.. it's pretty rare that he disappoints me  i would definitely recommend the christopher snow books, they're my favorites ("fear nothing" and "seize the night") or the odd thomas series. oh! and i've been reading the dexter books by jeff lindsay.. love them!

I haven't read Harry Potter, but I like the movies...I would say Lord of the Rings would probably be similar to Harry Potter...but if you are looking for a really good series that is super addicting...try the Twilight series...I was hooked, now I am re-reading them because I went through them way to fast the first time...I was just so excited to see what happened next!!!

Have you read any of the older science fiction/fantasy books (I know there's a difference between the two genres but they share a connection like horror and mystery)?  It's interesting to read H.G. Wells' and Jules Verne's books now not just because they are good books, but because it's fascinating (and many times comical) to see science and fantasy from the perspective of 19th century authors.

Also because these books are "classic" one can read them for free online.

Lord of the Rings is an awesome book series.  The movies are good too but I think the books are better.

Agreed.  I wonder how The Hobbit movie's going to turn out.

Yeah, I've always liked them, too. But the problem with series books is that you keep having to reread the series if you go too long without reading ANY of them. In fact, I need to reread them again. ;D

The books that I am going to recommend don't fit into your category, but they are really great reads. The fever series by Karen Marie Moning and the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.
