We have a small airport 4 miles north of town.  Someone has a small jet that they fly over our house everyday.  Don't know who it belongs to.  It is loud enough to hear it but not too loud to make alot of noise.  Other small planes fly here too but non make the sound the jet does.  May God bless each of you and keep you safe.

I hear both but mostly planes.  My house is right on the path for planes.  Sometimes it's so loud!

Nope to either....they only thing we might hear occassionally is a helicopter flying into a hospital which is about 10 miles from here, they will fly out urgent care patients to St. Louis.

I can hear train whistles from far off.  And I am going to take this opportunity to share one of my favorite poems:

Travel

The railroad track is miles away,
And the day is loud with voices speaking,
Yet there isn't a train goes by all day
But I hear its whistle shrieking.

All night there isn't a train goes by,
Though the night is still for sleep and dreaming,
But I see its cinders red on the sky,
And hear its engine steaming.

My heart is warm with friends I make,
And better friends I'll not be knowing;
Yet there isn't a train I wouldn't take,
No matter where it's going.

Edna St. Vincent Millay

P.S.  I'm just funny that way.

Well, I live near a hospital, so we hear helicopters all the time.  Occasionally I hear trains at night but they are a ways away.  Normally not planes, though if I'm outside I can.

My friends house can hear all that though.  They live near an airport and a train track runs rather close to their property.  I'm kinda amazed they can sleep with all that noise.

There is planes passing by all the time where I live, but I seem to only notice them now when I am in deep concentration, such as watching a movie (I hardly ever seem to notice them at other times).

I am not far from train tracks so I hear the train. Some times I hear a plain being in the landing path if they come in from this direction. I am about 15 to 20 minutes from airport. west of it.

Yep, sure do. I live right by an airport. It's not a big one though, but they do stay fairly busy. It's really neat, I like to watch the planes and helicopters. I don't hear them that much though, because they're not super loud they're the smaller planes. I wish I could hear the trains more though, I love hearing the sound of the train on the tracks and the sound of the whistle in the early morning hours.  :D
