Understanding, silently being there for her, (unless she wants to talk - and then, just listen), would be more useful than "prayer".
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

I believe the person was requesting prayers from those of us that can not be there to "listen."

I will be praying.  I have had a family member attempt suicide several times when I was a teenager and I still remember the anguish of it.

Prayers can do more for someone that just sitting there silent for them.  My prayers are for this young lady and her family.  It is so hard for me to understand how desparate someone can be to want to end their life.  I firmly believe there is a better place I'm going to once I leave this world but suicide will not get you there.
Have a wonderful day!

What makes you believe that a hypothetical 'deity' is there to listen besides blind-faith?  At least having someone who is actually able to be right there is more useful than imaginary comfort.

Prayers can do more for someone that just sitting there silent for them.

That's simply an empty belief, based on an equally empty blind-faith.  If someone cannot be there for another, such "prayers" are just as silent, (as in 'unheard'), as if done right beside them.

Like an invisible, hypothetical 'deity' of dubious existence?

i'm not sure about praying either but talking to her might work better, also someone who takes pills is asking for help and she is so young. not sure if i even want to say this but think soneone who wants to end their life would go for a more drastic way like a gun   hope she feels better

I hope that she gets the help and support that she is seeking.  Suicide is not the answer....she is asking for help.  Loving thoughts sent via the net.  Best of luck to the family.
