What's considered being ready for xmas shopping by xmas?? If u start shopping 5 months eairlier lol? I think that may be a little much ,unless u have a big family.. I think 3 months in advance would be perfect to start xmas shopping. What do u think about black fridays to start ur xmas shopping?? Great deals

i'm the same way with buying/gathering materials to make
things all year for christmas. i'm too good at procrastinating,
so i try to beat the christmas panic that i'll inevitably bestow
upon myself if i don't make an early effort

I was just flippin through the television last night and saw that (I think it was) QVC was having their Christmas in July, I thought it would a good idea, has some really neat stuff, but for me this time of year is kinda tight on money with the property taxes due, vacation, and more expenses like gas for mower, propane for gas grill, etc...so another year without purchasing anything, maybe next year?

It is too expensive for me to give Christmas gifts.
We sponsor a "Christmas in July" Bazaar in the atrium in the apartment complex I live in.
I have a small design business and help neighbors with their Christmas letter; stationery design. I type the text for them and make copies. They pay me.

I never christmas shop in July. I usually wait until late September before I start to think about it. I like to get all my christmas shopping done before November. That way I don't have to stress anything. Unless something is a last minute thing that I need to get. But it becomes easier when I am done with the major shopping.

If I find a really good buy on something I know would be a terrific gift for someone in particular I will get it regardless of the time of year.  Hate shopping just before the holiday anyway.

I shop earlier because it isn't such a rush during the season when everyone is out of what you want to buy and the stores are crowded, it is also a way to stretch the money out, instead of worrying at once if you will have enough for all your gifts, it can get expensive.
