What is your stand about our Immigration?
« on: November 19, 2012, 10:41:10 pm »
Do you think the Obama Administration will finally fix this far long issue.  What do you think should happen to 11M undocument people already living here? I know some hispanic family and they are one of the hard working people I've ever known.  It is a very touchy subject... what is your stand about it?

I think if they live here and working here, it should be easy for them  to become Americans.

I dont have a problem with them. God has room for everyone. They need to make sure they do work and not come over to load down our social programs. We already have a problem with that and it is getting worse. Obama should never did the obama phones. That costs more than I even know. He raised the foodstamps. I always though that the lifeline phones were there for low income that couldnt afford a regular phone or did they phase them out. I believe everyone needs help now and then but to live off of the system is ridiculous.

As a Spanish person (who is here legally) I can tell you it is a very touchy subject.  I do believe that the children that where brought her by their parents and not fault of their own, they have live here, grow here and many of them speak English better than Spanish and feel themselves Americans, they should be given some sort of pathway to permanent residence and after 5 years citizenship as long as they do not commit any crimes.

The other illegal people that shows up here trying to have a better life, as long as they work and pay taxes, and they have not and will not commit any type of crime, they could get some sort of registration for legal purposes, so they can get licenses, social security cards and work permits, pay taxes and after 5 years or so, if they proof that they are here for hard work and that they will not get in criminal actions, then they could get there resident papers and wait 5 more years to become citizen of the USA.

That should be a fair way to deal with all the illegals and make them work hard for their right to live in this country, you work hard, you proof that you will NOT be a burden to the states and that you can be here and not get in trouble, then you can stay, the minute you commit any type of felony you get sent back.

All my ancestors came to this country and went through the standard, legal process to become citizens. Everyone should have to do that and there should not be exception. It's the rule so why not enforce it? America is open to all who wish to become citizens but to say that those who cheat the system, go about living and working here in a different way from what so many others achieved justly, is wrong. Why should they get special treatment? Why are they any better than my ancestors who respected the system? We are an open country but if a person does not go through the proper channels to be here they should be sent back to their home country. Then perhaps they will respect countless others, stop feeling entitled and come back through the proper channels. They are welcome to become Americans if they respect American and her rules.

I think that the system is broken, and needs new laws to protect the country from illegals comming into the system. They need to closeup the borders, before they change the laws.

I feel the same way. No free pass on my opinion. True it is not fault of the child but fault on parent who thought if they have their kids in America then we will just bow down to and make them legal. Those who come to have to babies here and the parent is illegal then child should be illegal also. This is not like when in slavery days when parent was brought here and had kids. This is illegal passing and no child should be gain the passage of legal status. Those are my thoughts. Civil rights do not pertain to all and should not be a part of their fight.

Reagan already did that in his years. Gave over 20,000 mexican's a pass. No one should go before the one's already in line. I am curious as to why so many people want to burden our economy and feel that they need to have a right to job's that is for us American's already here. If your not needed then why come. Do not say because of farming or other growth because we need to feed and clothe the Americans. We can only do so much. Our Welfare system is bombarded with such of this. How about the country they come from do something for they people and then wont want to come to America the land of the free. Not so much anymore because we have a influx of other's who have taken that from the American's. The low wage that mexican's will do have brought our country to a stand still. We do not even have a chance against that and the employer's who exploited it should be punished. 5 years is not gonna cut it. Go back home and apply like the rest do. You were here illeagally in first place and should not have a pass for disobeying the laws.

I really wish we could have a real dialog on this. I really feel that if people want to come to America and be good citizens (work, pay taxes, obey the laws, vote, ect.) then they should be welcomed. I know it is very difficult to immigrate from some places (no visa, paying for passports, wait lists) My ancestors came here and I am thankful everyday for that...so lets find a way to be reasonable, intelligent people and have an open dialog that is respectful and workable on this issue.

Intelligent people abide by laws and respect the laws of the country they are coming to.

I agree with you both but the truth is our LEGAL Immigration System is also broken.  How can one person wait for 15-20 years just to step to America?  I have a relative now at the age of 30 and been waiting to come here since he was 23, my guess is he will probably gets here when his 40+ years old.  Something really need to change with our legal system and the 11M who are already here.

If your Relative have been waiting this long (7 years) then yes something need to be done. Let us think about the people who chose to want to be here legally. Who does the right thing and should have a chance. I still do not condone being here illegally and just waiting on the Gov. to make changes. You want to be here legally still do thing to place yourself in that category. Don't over stay your visa, don't over stay period with out having a reasonable document that you been trying to be here legally.

It is such a controversial topic for me. I know that there are many hard working immigrants out there. However, it isn't fair for the people who are legal immigrants. Legal immigrants have to go through such a complicated process. Those that can't hop the border have a much more difficult time getting into the United States.

I don' mind immigration if it is done legally. But having lived in a border town for years, it is awlful the way the illegals cross the border, As soon as they get inside the border they discard their dirty clothes and water bottles. The border patrol has picked up tons, and the wind blws it everywhere.
Then they cluster in a house that doesn't have running water and use the bathroom outside and yu can smell for a long ways. Then the mules bring in all the drugs. Until you have lived in a border town you don't really know how it is.
