I wonder if they showed different commercials in different parts of the country because my husband and I were both looking for the Budweiser commercial and never saw it.  I liked the E-Trade but then, I'm a sucker for cute babies and that one was really cute.

The Budwieser horse one was my favorite.  Some of the Doritos ones were okay too. Some though, made no sense at all. I didn't get the connection from the video to the product so they just seemed stupid. Oh, the car once (Audi?) where the dad gives him the keys to go to the prom was cute too.

I thought the ads were okay this year.  Last year's were more entertaining, but they were still pretty good.  I liked the Sketcher's cheetah commercial and the Doritos goat one the best.  Tide's "stain" one was pretty good, the Bud Light New Orlean's "voodoo" were okay.  The Pepsi Next party and Audi prom were entertaining.  The M&M video was pretty funny.  The "Got Milk?" was entertaining too.  Nice twist on the new Axe Apollo commercial (no one cooler than an astronaut).  And who doesn't like the E-Trade baby - Boom!

I liked the sentiment of the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial was okay (I'm not all that into the sentimental ones), but I just couldn't get past the War Horse rip-off of that commercial's "storyline".

At least with the blackout, I was able to get all 66 commercials that aired in my area edited down so I can take notes on them this week for my trivia contest.  I'm such a geek!   ;D

Did you see the one with the Clidsdale. There was one where a man was bringing up a Clidsdale as a pony and when the Horse was grown it was sent to Budwiser to be on the Team of horses. The Horse noticed the Guy that brought him up in the crowd. I think that was the best one!! Budwiser always puts out great Commercials

The best commercials was our veterans and wounded warriors followed by the senior citizens with I think it was a tacobell commercial. The game itself the balck out helped it some. It was pathetic. The half time show really sucked. I like different types of music and the one they had was ridiculous and pathetic. They were dressed inapporpriately with kids watching this game. The funny thing was when my 6 year old grandson said she has some fat thighs. We all laughed.

I liked the Doritos and Taco Bell ads the best (for humor) and the Budweiser Clydesdale (for serious). Also we had a chuckle with the VW ad having the whitest white guy talking in a Jamaican accent; the line "So you're from Minnesota, right?" "Ya mon! Home of da Ten Tousand Lakes" got us Minnesotians laughing.

There were some commercials that people raved about that I thought were bad. On the humorous end, the Best Buy ad with Amy Poehler was pretty stupid, esp. since we know she isn't really a "dumb blonde" as the ad portraits... Perhaps if it was Jessica Simpson (remember the Chicken of the Sea gaff she made?!), then it'd be a little more believable.

Also I didn't really care for the Paul Harvey ad. Now don't get me wrong... Paul Harvey's speech that they recorded was awesome. Living in MN, I understand about the hard-working farmer's lifestyle. Also I grew up listening to those radio greats like Paul Harvey and always found his monologues to be humorous at times or poignant at other times. So the combination of Paul Harvey making a speech on that topic was great. However, I just didn't think it was good from an advertising perspective. For one thing, it went on way too long. Any ad longer than 90 seconds (and that one clocked in just over 2 minutes!) and you start to lose the viewer's attention. Also, the viewer had no clue as to what was being advertised until the very end... While I was watching it, I kept debating whether the ad was for Farmer's Insurance, John Deer (or Caterpillar, pick your favorite tractor manufacturer), or Dove's line of men's bodywash and deodorants. Had Dodge put the Ram logo at the beginning of the ad, then all of those pictures of the truck would have popped out more for the viewer instead of being just another farm vehicle in the entire montage. Finally many people watch the Super Bowl at bars or Super Bowl parties, so ads that have a lot of talking with little visuals to tell the story (the story that the visuals told was about farming, not about a truck nor about qualities that farmers and trucks share) may not be as well understood in a large gathering. Many of the comments I've read about that ad said that it was confusing (even if that person rated the ad very high), which goes to show that from an advertising perspective it wasn't really great.

I loved quite a few of the commercials, however, my most favorite one was the Doritos. I thought it was so cute how the dad played dress-up with his daughter. Then the two of them were joined by the dad's friends, who, too, played dress up, lol  ;D. Then to top it off the mother caught one of the men wearing her wedding dress TOO FUNNY  ;D  ;D!
