Driver tipping
« on: August 28, 2013, 03:32:18 pm »
What is your opinion on  tipping drivers?

Today my pizza  driver was an hour  late
on   top  of that he wanted to know if he was getting a tip..
LOL...
I  almost said..Yes..Here's a tip learn to be on time!
I  kept quiet tho he  seemed like a nice lad..

Do you think drivers Deserve a tip? Afterall....The delivery charge is pretty steep
I think.. if a driver goes out of his way and beyond yes tip him/her...
i rarely tip tho.. they usually arive late...

My boyfriend used to deliver pizzas, and his tips were his main source of income.  When he got bad tips, he wasn't making enough money to make it worth it.  The delivery charge doesn't go to the driver, at least the few places that he worked for didn't.  So yes, I always tip.  I can understand not giving as much if they're much later than they say they're going to be, though.

I always tip the pizza guys, even when they are late.  Perhaps, they are late because they got a bigger tip from someone else.

SOmetimes I do and sometimes I dont. It depends on how much money I have on hand at the time. If I order from somewhere that lets me order and pay online with my card then I always tip.

You should ALWAYS tip. Delivery charges go directly to the company, not the driver. Most of them are working for minimum wage, sometimes less, and are extremely overworked (hence why they tend to be late... they're told to be in 5 different places in different parts of a city within 15 minutes, during rush hour).

Really, it's common courtesy. Whenever I hear people saying they don't think they should have to tip people in the food service industry, it boils my blood. Clearly they haven't worked in the food service industry!

An hour late? If I was to tip I would probably still put down only a little if that's the case. With the availability of looking up directions online and how common people with data are nowadays there is not as much of an excuse anymore.

I don't think I would tip a driver if he shows up over a hour beyond the time it normally takes to deliver.

Was it the driver's fault it was late, or was it the people making the pizza? You can't deliver a pizza before it's cooked.

Yes, I think drivers deserve a tip, which is many times their main source of income.  Especially in this bad economy, they depend on you.  I wouldn't want that job for anything, but I do enjoy my food delivered.

I generally always tip drivers, even if they're late.  Can't always blame the driver for that, I give them the benefit of the doubt.

I have been a pizza delivery driver before and yes many houses don't tip. It is nice to get but I would never ask if I didnt get one it is just part of the job.
