What is wrong with people?

I saw on the news today a 11 year old boy in Washington State took a knife and gun to school to kill a girl in his class because she was "annoying" him.  He was going to stab her to death while his friend was going to shoot anyone who tried to stop him.  What's wrong with people today?

That is scary. i wonder where his parents were. I have 2 grandsons that go to school from my house. I always check and make sure what is in their bookbags and to make sure that they have everything for school.

Children today are more brazen than they were in my day.  I was bullied every day for three years, which ended when I changed schools.  What she did that annoyed him to decide doing this should be questioned.  Maybe she rejected him.  Maybe she was smarter than him.  At this point, who knows?  Hopefully he and his friend were caught before they executed this plan.

There is no excuse for this. Don't give him an excuse. I used to live in this small town when i was younger. Bullying was unheard of. Recently this small town of girard hit the news. A usually quiet bar. A guy and his girlfriend were sitting there. A couple of guys started harassing and bullying this couple. The guys got away at first but then one of them was caught.The guy they beat up was in the hospital for a few days with a fractured skull and was in a coma. He a huge mount of doctor bills because of this. Everyone needs to take a stand.

I know everyone hears these stories about terrible things happening and YES it's bad. But seriously...in historical context, this is nothing new. People have been killing and hurting people in horrible ways for thousands of years. Yeah it's terrible, but acting like this never happened in 'the good ol' days' is completely naive. You hear about it more now due to communication technology being more advanced and the media capitalizing upon it.

It has to be someone who is born without the ability to empathize.  People blame it on all sorts of other things, but I really feel that there are some people born without a conscience.   While external factors might make it worse, I don't think that outside factors alone can cause a pure evil act like that.

I like to know why this is being broadcast on TV for everyone to watch. I guess they know that there are a lot of people interest in watching this
sort of thing on TV, day in and day out. Thanks news media, what great work your doing entertaining the sick minds of America.

I don't know if anyone gets joy out of it.  You can bury your head in the sand and pretend it isn't happening.  I think we are just made aware of it more now.  It would just be nice if someone worked on some solutions that would really work now.

Every time I hear stories like this, almost on a daily basis, I thank God that I'm retired from the school systems.  I would be worried every day, which is not a way to work.  I watched as children became more brazen over my number of years of teaching.  Unfortunately, parents mostly supported the kids, under any circumstances, and kids got braver.  Too late to backtrack?
