I'am not to sure if it is ok to add it all, but what I do know is that a baked potatoe with butter, cheese, bacon bits and sour cream sounds AWESOME!!!

I would say that adding all the toppings does lessen the nutritional value, but who cares if you are indulging every once in a while lol. If it's really a concern, you can always switch to a low fat sour cream and low fat cheese. I love baked potatoes, and in my opinion having a baked potato is much better than fries.

Regular white potatoes convert into sugar in the body quicker than the red skinned potato.  I think you can get big red skinned potatoes and probably back them too.  Adding all that stuff ... sounds good to me, I used to do that but have found alternatives to the less healthy add-ons, turkey bacon, unflavored yogurt, etc.  But sometimes, it's really cool to just "taste" the vegetable "au natural"

Are baked potatoes healthy? I usually add butter, cheese, bacon bits and sour cream. I add lots of it. Do you think that everything i add lessens the nutritional value? I kinda think so but i lve it so much. Baked potatoes are my favorite food right about now.
They do have  lot of carbs. Then all the sour cream and butter and cheese also add more calories. I do love the potatoes too. Happy salavating.

I think moderation of those toppings would be helpful.

Non-fat plain yogurt taste kinda like sour cream (not as creamy), but it will reduce your calories and fat. I would go easy on the butter and bacon bits.

I like potatoes too - especially mashed potatoes. ;)

A baked potato is good and healthy but when we add all the extra stuff on it...then it is not. But the butter, cheese, and sour cream is good on it if it is not too much I guess

Baked potatoes are healthy without all the toppings mentioned. I like them with some sourcream.

I am not supposed to eat potatoes, pasta, bread rice. My doc reiterated potatoes potatoes. So I am sure that they are not good for us. They cause weight gain and high cholesterol.

Baked Potatoes are good for your, but it's all the goodies that you add as toppings that presents a big problem and not healthy for you.
