What makes a post locked
« on: July 11, 2014, 04:51:47 am »
I see a lot of posts are locked and one of mine was.   What does that mean?  I just ask a simple question.

It is to my understanding that most old posts are locked after some period of time. I have also seen posts locked for not following the terms of service and being completly negative about the site or bashing the site due revoked credit.. or losing credit after not being here for months.. Which is still a little bit of under the following terms of service part since that already answers the questions as to why it was revoked in the first place and how it could be revoked.. But anyways i also belive you have the right to lock your own post at anytime.. So maybe you hit the lock button without realizing it?

I might be wrong though because that is only to MY UNDERSTANDING... Soooo I will watch this thread to see if there are any other reasons..as to why posts get locked  and or if i am way off base. Never hurts to be wrong and it never hurts to learn!

It depends on the type of topic

Some are locked because they're old

Others are locked because they contain out of date or inaccurate information

Some are locked because people were being hostile

You also have the option of locking your own topic if you feel like you received the information you need and don't want others replying anymore

If you are honest of what you complain about they wont get locked. honesty is OK. sometimes problems get fixed with kindness in what you complain about.

Oh, no!  I think I started a thread that got locked, but didn't realize I was breaking a rule.  I got so excited because I had gotten cash back through the FusionCash toolbar that I wanted to share the news.  I mentioned the name of the company and told how much I like their product.  I wasn't trying to make any money for the company or myself.  I just thought it was good information to share.  Should I delete my post, or can I not do that after it is locked?  I'm such a by the book person.  It never entered my mind that I might be breaking a rule.
